Maihua's POV:
We all lingered in the Cottage Core room for a few more minutes, attempting to figure out the other pets' names. The Calico went up towards AP. Rubbing against her side, nuzzling, the cat purred sweetly. AP attempted to pick the Calico up as it looked up at her. The cat now had it's head hunched over AP's right shoulder as she held it and craned her neck back to start rotating the collar. As she rotated the collar I walked towards her a few steps and placed my finger on it's nose, and slid my hand back, petting it's head. She gripped the tag gently and observed the name.
"Dahlia." AP read aloud, enough for everyone to hear. I see Y/N and Avery in the corner of my eye, walking to the Guinea Pig cage and follow curious as to what they were doing. Two of the Guinea pigs were short-haired and one was long haired and fluffy. One of the short-haired also had fluffy fur, but the other's was sleek and flat. I reach in the cage hesitantly, after unlatching the lock on the top. The fluffy short haired stopped and climbed onto my had and got comfortable. Y/N lowered her hand into the cage after I pulled mine out. Avery and Y/N now both had the other Guinea pigs and held them for a few minutes as we looked for their names on a small piece of paper or something. Sybil and Soph were by the snake enclosure looking for its name also. McKenna and Ella alternated holding the Tabby McKenna slightly rocking back and forth silently while holding the Tabby. She looked at the Tabby's tag and spoke, announcing the greyish Tabby's name.
"The Tabby's name is Lilac." She said.
A minute later, noise erupted in the mostly silent room as Sybil called for our attention.
"Guys I found the note with
the rest of the pet names." She said, as the rest of us inventively listened. "The pythons name is 'Mangolia', after the white flower. The Guinea pigs names; The fluffy black and white short-haired" I look down at the Guinea pig sniffing my hoodie and squeaking, and smiled. "Is named 'Rose' after the black and white Rose. The short-haired, beige Guinea pig is named 'Daffodil', after the Trumpet Daffodil Bulbs." Avery looked down at the Guinea pig she held, smiling as it rested peacefully and quietly on her forearm. She was clearly attached already. "The long-haired black Guinea pig is named 'Orchid' after the black orchids." Y/N looked down with an utmost generous smile as Orchid squealed rapidly. "P.S. each of these animals are female." Sybil shut the note and took a deep breath laying it back down on the table, as she sighed. I started to get genuinely worried about Orchid and all the noise she was making."Is Orchid all right over there?" I asked, noticeably worried. She put Orchid back in the cage gently, and she leaped off her hand.
"She's fine. The low pitched squeaks are usually because they're exited and content, while the higher pitched whistles, or squeaks, are from annoyance or hunger. They thrive in small or large packs rather than alone because they are very social animals, which is why there are three instead of just one or two. She said, replying quickly.
"How do you know so much about them?" Avery asked, cutting into the conversation. I nodded along agreeing to the question.
"I had a few when I was younger. I took up the opportunity to learn more about them and several other rodents." Y/N replied. Me and Avery also put Rose and Daffodil back in the cage, and they began to eat and scuffed around the cage, running.
McKenna called out from the other side of the room as everyone was leaving the Cottage Core room and headed back downstairs as Lavender, Sawyer, and Dahlia followed all of us downstairs to get our bags and suitcases.
I'm now standing next to AG, grabbing my suitcase and two bags.
"All of the names are inspired by flowers." I said, splurging. I stood up and came back to my sense of time when my stomach grumbled. "You know what time it is?" I asked attempting to look for a clock in the living room but she answered back quickly.
"Noon. And I don't think any of us have had food or coffee yet except for snacks maybe." She replied, speaking quickly as we all carried our bags to the stairs and began trailing upward. The dogs were downstairs playing with Dahlia. I glance back at the well acquainted animals and smile, seeing friendship between two species who are said to be enemies.
"Gonna be quite the name game memorizing all of the pets' names." I said breaking the momentary awkward silence.
"I know right, but we have a while to get it down and we'll have an amazing time here, especially with the pets, but there are probably chores too." She said in reply, which made me smile again.
"Doesn't mean we couldn't have fun with it? It's just a few chores. Plus it'll keep us productive. I said as we reached the top of the stairs.
