[Chapter 35: Change of Pace!]
Shape the chakra in a circular motion, like a ball. Contain it— do it right! But let it go free, let it move around.
I— oh god this is difficult. No— don't think about it! Think about how it'll feel, how lively it'll be. Think about—
"Khissssss...!" I hissed out in pain, the warmth in my hands too hot to bear. Reeling my arms back against the force, I stumbled on my footing. "Ah!" I exclaimed, waving my arms out so I wouldn't plummet to my death. When I have finally balanced again, my back slouched as I released a sigh. It's been like, a month or so? So why aren't I getting this???
"No need to get so worked up on this," Shiori signed beside me, grabbing my slightly burnt hands with his free hand to inspect them. "These things take patience after all."
"I know that!" I whined out childishly, wincing when the older individual squeezed on my hands. "Ow! Shi-Shi~!" The said person only sighed, dropping them when he concluded that they were ok.
Placing my hands behind my back, I puffed my cheeks out. "The thing is, I know what I'm doing wrong! And yet I still do it!" I grumbled out, plopping my ass down against the grass, sitting against the familiar tree.
"Of course you would, you haven't done something this advanced in a while," Shiori commented, standing next to me with his red, narrowed eyes staring down at me. "I am still surprised you wished to do this, despite being only a genin."
"Look— it sounded cool okay?" I tried to reason, only to blink when I registered what they had said. "Holy— I forgot I was only a genin." Straightening my back, I looked up to my teacher. "When was the last chunin exams?"
"Approximately 52 days ago."
"Eeeeh?" I let out. They already had one after the invasion? "I feel like I would've been qualified for that one!"
"If you didn't, I would have been disappointed." I narrowed my eyes with a slight frown. Of course, prodigy. "But, not all of your peers are on the same level and I doubt you'd like cooperating with unfamiliar faces." I hummed in agreement, ok, now that makes sense.
I raised a brow, "Wait— if my mates weren't ready for the chunin exams then why did we take one so early?"
"Is it not obvious?" The pink-haired individual narrowed his eyes. "You already know the layout and traditions of this village, making it easier for you to pass. Which means it's safer."
Ohhhh... I thought to my head. "Does that mean I can go to the next one?"
"No," Huh? My friends aren't that weak. "If you didn't know, the next Chunin exams will be held at Kirigakure." I blinked at the familiar name, only for the realization to hit me in the face. Oh shit, that's terrible for an Uchiha. I internally shuddered at the memories of knowing that the village was known for its bloodshed and hatred against kekkei genkais. "However, I believe that you will pass at the next one."
I giggled, standing back up and stretched my arms out. "Yay!" Holding my hands out, I smiled as I then close my eyes, "Better master this jutsu now then!"
But just as I started to push my chakra to my hands, I felt something grab them. I snapped my eyes open, looking down to see another hand, older and longer, on them. My head tilted up, only to meet the eyes of Shiori. His eyes were more narrow than usual as there was a slight tug of his mouth as if he was scowling at me. Pushing my hands down, he lifted up his other hand. "You're done for the week."
I blinked in surprise. "Huh?" I couldn't help but let out. Letting go of me, the taller pink-haired male just turned away. "Hey, what's that supposed to mean?!" Did— did I actually get a break? And wait— for the whole week?!
