This is one I tearfully dedicate to Robin Williams, referring to his death and his last line in Night at the Museum 3.
Smile my boy, it's sunrise
The day was filled with adventure,
It was filled with fun and excitement.
But none of these make a true story,
Without sadness and despair.
There were exciting times,
Full of danger and exhilaration,
But in the end it was over shadowed
By a dark so black not even the brightest light would show a spark.
We fought, we persevered,
We learned and triumphed,
But the end was inevitable,
And that doesn't make it any better.
You chose to leave,
You said that your time was up.
It was time to let others live,
For others to steal our hearts.
But we both know it won't happen,
Because none of them are you.
Yet you do it, and with
Great courage, bravery, and valor too.
Even though every night is pure black,
I remember what you last spoke to me.
And I find comfort in knowing that you are always watching,
Always repeating those words to me.
What hurts the most though,
Is hearing your voice saying,
With utmost sincerity and regret,
"Smile my boy, it's sunrise."
