I groaned as my alarm clock went off, reminding me of my interview. I held my eyes tightly shut for a few seconds before opening them fully, bright light streaming through the half open curtains. I strained them, letting them get used to the the sun, which they would be seeing all day. I rubbed my temple, feeling a headache coming on.
"Lacey?" I heard a familiar voice whisper as my door creaked open. I sat up in my bed, pulling my covers up with me. My big brother, Darren, who was 3 years older than me, slipped in the door, closing it quietly behind him. He held a tray, containing, I was guessing my breakfast. He placed the tray, at the end of my bed, before walking over to the curtains and opening them up fully. My eyes were now fully exposed to the bright light and it didn't feel good on my worsening headache. The sun's rays were warm through the glass window, allowing me to pull down my covers and let the heat, warm my exposed skin. He chuckled, "Headache, again?" He was laughing but he looked slightly concerned.
"Yeah, but it's fine. Nothing some good old pills can't fix." I replied, sarcastically, wincing as my head suddenly began to pound.
"Don't joke about drugs, the whole town is under a lot of danger, everyday with the amount of drug dealing that goes on here. That boy you used to go to school with, Harry. I can't remember his surname. He was discovered with a few other boys, selling drugs to older men who were carrying very dangerous weapons, I just want you to be car-"
I interrupted him in the middle of his long brotherly talk,
"Wait, hold on a minute. Are you talking about Harry Styles. The sweetest boy who went to my school."
He nodded, "Yeah that surname rings a bell."
"No way it couldn't have been him, he was the sweetest, and the shyest boy I ever met." I answered, confused.
"Well, that's him alright. Just shows you how dangerous this little town is. Eswood may be one of the smallest towns in England, doesn't mean we don't have to deal with all the same problems that big cities have."
"Okay, okay." I raised my hands in defeat, "Point proven."
He shook his head, and looking up at me smirking, "You know I'll always win at these kind of things, remember?"
"Whatever, loser." I grumbled pointing to the door, "Get out, I have an interview at the homeless shelter to get to."
He ruffled my hair as I got up out of my bed, I huffed and he laughed walking out of the room. I quickly made my bed, pushing the white linen covers up towards where my four pillows were neatly laid on my double bed. The sheets floated in the air, landing on the mattress without a sound.
I patted my self on the back, "Well done, Lacey, you are officially a freak who feels proud of themselves for making a flipping bed."
I trudged towards the bathroom, my legs still weak from my long sleep.
I turned the shower on.-
As I stepped out of the shower, the cold air of my bathroom hit my bare skin and I quickly wrapped a towel around me. My hair was dripping wet causing the floor to become the River Thames within one minute of me standing there. I sighed placed the bath mat over the wet patch as I flung my wet hair up into a messy bun on top of my head. I dried my self of before putting on a small black skater skirt and a white shirt. I tucked it in and put the collar down, making sure I looked smart. I buttoned it all the way up. I slipped small black ballet shoes onto my bare feet and grinned a toothy smile as I looked in the mirror.

The morning passed quickly and I was soon, eating a quick lunch along with Darren before applying some makeup and walking towards the front door. I grabbed my small, leather jacket incase the sun suddenly disappeared and a severe snow storm came down onto Eswood.
"Hey, you ready?" Darren asked me as he came down the oak, wooden stairs towards me. His blue eyes, and blonde hair were absolute perfection. If Darren wasn't my brother, or wasn't gay I would definitely have went out with him.
"Yeah." I replied, as the nerves had just began to kick in, I knew that was all I was going to be able to say to him.
He nodded not asking anymore questions, as if he had just read my mind. He placed a hand on my shoulder, before pulling me into a hug, he rested his chin on my head full of dark brown hair and kissed my forehead. Before pulling away and pulling his signature, 'Good luck' grin. He then reached his long arms around me, taking a hold of the door handle and opening the front door. I walked out, my nerves suddenly beginning to go away. There was something about that smile Darren had that was so reassuring. My feet were noisy on the pebbles as I walked off the driveway and towards my car. I opened it up and sat down in the drivers seat, I put the keys in the ignition and started the car, before pulling out a small business card reading,

When the shelter was in sight my nerves began to pick up in my stomach again, that familiar knot now had butterflies circling all around it. I shouldn't have been so nervous for a job I wasn't even going to get paid for, but if I wanted to be a social worker I was going to have to have good social and communication skills and this would look great on my record. I only planned on working here for a few months and then heading out to look for a real job.

When I made it to the two front doors side by side. I slowly pushed it open, revealing to me a small room painted green and cream. It had a small desk in the left corner and in the right corner there were some couches, a small tv and then another couple of doors, leading to other parts of the shelter, I hadn't seen yet. I walked over to the lady who was sat at the desk. The only noise that could be heard in the small room was the rapid typing of this small lady who had short, blonde hair and from what I could see small round glasses. I walked over to her, clearing my throat making her aware of my presence. She jolted her head up quickly, looking around before her eyes finally settled on me. She looked over the top of her glasses, before frowning and asking in a rather raspy, frustrated voice, "Yes?"
"Em, I'm Lacey Adams, I'm here for the interview to volunteer here for a few months, is there someone I can speak to, because if no-"
"Yes, me." She answered, to a question I hadn't even finished asking.
Suddenly she shot a question at me, "Have you had a job before?"
"No, this is my first, or will be, hopefully."
"Okay fine then, you're hired."
"What? Already? What about the interview? " I was beyond confused.
"This was the interview. Just shut up and go into the back and get into your uniform."
"Oh my goodness, thank you so much."
"Let me do my work." Her voice was harsh, but I could hear a little bit of amusement in it.
"Go to that door over there, turn left and go into that room." She pointed out to me. I nodded, a toothy smile appearing on my face. As I turned my back away from her and made my way towards where the lady had directed me to go. I heard the door squeak open.
"Oh hello, Harry, how are you my dear boy?"
"I'm good thanks, Brenda."I recognised that husky voice anywhere, I turned round to find, a tall boy, messy, curly brown hair was a state on the top of his head and those emerald green eyes. He had tattoo covered arms and neck, he didn't have a visible part of skin. He had a black lip ring and on his eyebrow a small piercing.
His deep, green eyes looked me up and down. He recognised me, I could see in his eyes, but he didn't say anything. Instead he pulled out a cigarette from his pocket and a green lighter. He placed it between his lips, lighting it and breathing a sigh of relief. He blew the smoke of his mouth, causing me to cough as my lungs took in the smoke. He quickly threw the cigarette into the bin , and walked off without a word said. This was going to be interesting.
Hi, hope you enjoyed. I will be trying to update as regularly as possible. Bye xoxo
