"boss?" the puny messenger quivered taeri hesitantly in front of the leader's looming presence. He hated being in their office. it's never a fun experience.

"bringing good news?"

the greasy man scratched his head. "unfortunately, no. we have a problem."

"and what is it?"

"it's the tech." he stated. "the recently created transporters aren't fully functioning. none of them works like the original."

"Are you telling me we have all these blueprints, but I still don't have what I want?" their unforgiving grip tightened upon their glass. "what is so hard?"

"w-well they said it was hard to create when half of the instructions were lost."

"they dare to complain! ungrateful rats. they've never experienced half the pain I went through just to retrieve these!" their gravelling voice boomed through the cold, dim headquarters, crushing the glass with their bare bands. blood red wine spilling onto their hands.

most of our budget is wasted on replacing those glasses. taeri thought to himself.

"so what should we do now, boss?" he asked while the underlings hurriedly scrambled to clean up the mess. "we don't have the original."

"all is under control. it's best we lay low for now, especially after that failure's capture. but I have a special someone to keep an eye on the original."

"you mean that high school kid? how do you trust them to be undercover?"

"because I personally trained them myself, and who would ever suspect a thing, especially with a cute face like theirs?" they said with a parental grin.

"so now what?"

"they're going to seize the day, that's what."

For the entire month, jisung felt like he had lived another person's life. An everyday teenage life that didn't involve stopping a bike thief before homeroom or saving a poor, slow granny from being hit by an oncoming van while getting a pint of milk, as his auntie asked.

Instead, he actually stayed awake in class, returned to his beloved chemistry club, and even attended a party. It was Hyunjin's pet dog's party. But it still counted since he had never made it to any social events before, let alone an invite.

He was still nearly late to school without fail, though.

"jisung dear, have you cleaned your room?" nayeon's auntie questioned.

She had been fussing all morning about their expected visitor more than the one who had personally invited her.

"Laundry has been put away. can't let anyone see those tighty whities. dishes have been washed, and snacks are on the table. am I missing something? I feel like I'm missing something?"
