"I love this song!" Lita gasped, her hand shooting to dial up the volume to the max. 'Dancing in the Moonlight' by King Harvest vibrated the mirrors of the small car, jostling the speakers with each bass note. Steven looked over to her with an amused grin, resting his hand casually on the wheel while she bellowed out the lyrics that were engrained into her mind.
"Everybody here is outta sight. They don't bark and they don't bite. They keep things loose, they keep things light. Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight. Dancin' in the moonlight!" She screamed out as if she were performing to a live crowd of 100,000 people. Steven watched in awe while she sang, nearly forgetting that he was supposed to be watching the road as he drove.
She'd fling around her arms like she were putting on the show of her life for an audience, and hold her heart for the chorus. Her eyes were squeezed shut and she swayed side to side, singing the same words over and over. Her singing was horribly out of tune, worse than Steven could do- and that was saying something.
He absolutely loved it.
He was completely entranced by her movements, and couldn't help but stare. His lips were stretched into a beaming smile while she bounced around. It wasn't that she was some mind-blowing singer- though Steven would agree to disagree- or anything like that, it was that she was happy.
It was that she, too, had a wide grin plastered onto her lips, and she was so deeply submerged within the tune that she didn't even realize the man beside her was in awe. Steven had never seen this side of Lita, the care-free and outgoing side. She was an incredibly soft-spoken girl with delicately carved featured and small smiles, always blushing at every little thing.
Steven liked how he could compliment her shoes and her cheeks would run red-hot. He liked the way she would bite her lip when she was nervous, which was always. Did she know this? Of course not. Steven could never tell her that he was obsessed with how he had finally found a girl that didn't care about his hairy chest and constant loudness.
She didn't mind that he would snore or that he always needed to be touching her in some way- whether it be resting his hand on her thigh or holding her hand or hugging her small frame or twirling strands of her hair. The worry that he might be out too late or be a little too fucked-up when he comes home slipped past her mind. She trusted him, and he loved that. They balanced each other out. That was just what made him fall for her.
He felt that he could stay just like that forever, staring at this beautiful woman and listening to her off-key singing. She was completely oblivious to how Steven was smiling ear-to-ear. She had no idea. No idea that he was in love... with her.
"Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight!" she finished, her chest puffing up and down as she attempted to regain her breath from her performance. She finally caught notice of the intense stare that Steven was holding, and began blushing. "What're you staring at?" she mumbled, smiling softly at Steven's expression.
He finally shook himself out of his trance and laughed, "You're perfect." "What?" The blush on her cheeks grew hotter and she began to fidget with the hem of her skirt. No one had ever told Lita that before. "You're just.. you're fuckin' perfect." he repeated, shaking his head in amazement. Steven bit back what he wanted to add, but the thought lingered on his tongue.
'Perfect for me.'
