Hannah
"Well, Did I fucking stutter?"
I sighed and closed my eyes as I cross my arms. I inhaled deeply.
"Is there any catch?" I said and waited for a reply. No replies?
I opened my eyes to see him still there, just staring at me. I flick his forehead and I saw him come back to reality.
"While I was saying, Is there any catch?" He shook his head and I highly doubt there is but I shurgged it off.
"So, What course are you taking?" I suddenly changed the topic without thinking. Why am I being friendly with this guy?
"Same as you. Literature." I narrowed my eyebrows at him.
"Then give me atleast one quote from William Shakespeare." He froze and didn't say anything.
"Well, I'll give you this one, I think this quote suits you. 'A fool thinks of himself to be wise, but a wiseman knows himself to be a fool.'" I said and walk back to the classroom.
There I saw Mr. Upton reading today's newspaper. He saw me and Ashton and smiled.
"Are you new here? I'm Clark M. Upton, also known as Mr. Upton. I am the teacher in this class."
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Upton. I'm Ashton Irwin." Ashton extends his hands for Mr. Upton to shake a gladly took it. I sigh at the scebe infront of me and I rolled my eyes and made my way to my usual chair.
I placed my bag on my chair and sat on it as I looked outside the window. I felt the chair next to me make a sound and saw Ashton sit next to me with a smile plastered on his face.
"What are you smiling for, Idiot?"
"Nothing."
Everything today was like a blur. I couldn't remember what I have learned or what happened. It was now lunch break.
I grabbed my bag and felt eyes on me as I leave the room. Ashton then appeared by my side in less than a second.
"Are you not planning on meeting new friends? Preferrably not me?" He shook his head.
"I'm fine with only being friends with one certain person." He chuckles and I am typically scared of this guy.
"Were you dropped as a child? Multiple times?" I said as I pushed the door open to the lunch room.
"That hurts but fortunately no." He dramatically cried which made him look weird. I let out a giggle. What? No. I don't giggle.
"See? I made you laugh!" He shouted and the whole lunch room became quiet and looked at us. My face became red with embarrassment and I sighed.
"Please go back to what you were doing." They seemed to be intimidated with my voice as they return to chat with their friends or continue eating.
"You're an annoying ball of sunshine, aren't you?" I said as I grabbed the tray of food infront of me.
"Alot of people have already told me that." He chuckled as he also grabbed the tray of food.
I went over to a vacant table and placed the tray down. I look at Ashton weirdly as he sat infront of me.
"What?" He blinked as he took a big munch on a sandwich. "It's just that, I'm used to eating alone."
In my two years here, I have never been accompanied by a person during lunch. It was a first.
Besides that, he was also my first friend.
I can't believe I already think of him as a friend, but it feels odd. It feels nice to have a friend.
I didn't notice nor felt a tear cascade down my face until Ashton looked at me worriedly. "Hey, you alright?" His voice made me snap back to reality.
"Huh, oh uh. I am." I blinked a few times before eating the food laid out in front of me.
We both ate the food in silence whilst the whole room was still full of chatters from different students.
After I was done eating, I proceeded to silently drink cold water.
Then I saw her, Veronica. I watched every move she made as I tightened the grip around the water bottle making it let out a sound similar to bone cracking.
She then saw me and proceeded to approach our table. Our -- I and Ashton's table. Every step she took towards us made me tighetened more on the bottle.
"Oh, Hello there, Hannah." She pathetiy greets me then she looked at Ashton. I saw it, I saw that goddamn twinkle in her eye once she saw Ashton.
She slid to the space next to him and by the looks of it, Ashton doesn't seem to take interest in Veronica.
Why though? She's prettt and popular but still I hate her.
Ashton stands up living Veronica shocked and he grabs my arm and we both leave the lunchroom together.
"Why?" I chuckled at his actions.
I've been taking records ever since she stepped foot in this school. No boy that she had talked with turned her down. This was a first.
I smiled at the thought of it. Ashton was different.
Different from the rest, but then again, I barely know him.
