Ch 11: Chopsticks

I woke up the next morning at exactly 6:00. I changed into my plain black t shirt and grey sweats. I skateboarded to mr. Miyagis. His front door was open and daniel and him where on their knees just sitting there. But then as I came closer, I realized mr. Miyagi had chopsticks and was trying to catch something. I kneeled down and sat down.

"What's he doing?" I whispered.

"Hes trying to catch a fly" daniel replied.

"Oh" I nodded.

"Hey can I try?" Daniel asked.

"Ay" mr. Miyagi nodded. Daniel concentrated hard on trying to catch the fly. It took him a couple of minutes until, he caught one.

"Hey mr. Miyagi look!" He exclaimed. Mr. Miygi was suprised. He shoved his chopsticks into the jar and stood up. I laughed.

"Come, we train" mr. Miyagi said to the both of use. We stood up and followed mr.miyagi.

"Hey I guess this means I can accomplish anything huh mr. Miyagi" daniel said holding his chopsticks still amazed.

"Ay" he replied. "But first you accomplish fence" he said. "Both paint fence. "Do together". He handed use a paint brush and two paint buckets. Me and daniel started painting the fence. "At, at" mr. Miyagi said and grabbed me and Daniel's wrist. "All in wrist, up, down, up down, long strokes". He guided use. I looked at him. "No look at me, look at fence". I looked at the fence and continued painting. He walked away still saying up and down.

I still wanted to ask mr. Miyagi so badly what this was teaching use. But I just kept my mouth shut.

"Ah very good Daniel-San, eva-san" he said. "Up. Down, up down". He set down more paint for use. "At, at, small boat left hand, big boat right hand".

"But we are almost done" I laughed.

"Paint all fence" he said and pointed to the whole fence surrounding his house.

holy shit.

I sighed looking at the fence. I went back and continued painting.

"My wrist hurts" I said.

"Mine too" daniel sighed.

"I feel as though I've already been in a fight, without even actually being in one" I said. Daniel laughed.

An hour later we both finished. We walked to mr. Miyagi and sat down on the dock. He was trimming a tree.

"Welk were both done" I said and smiled. "Pretty good huh" .

"Both sides" he said. Our smiles dyed down.

"No not yet" daniel mumbled. I stood up and began painting again.

"I better be abail to kick someones ass after this training process is done" daniel said.

"For real" I scoffed.
Night came and we where almost done with our work. Mr. Miyagi came through his door.

"Ah good job" he said. "Come back tomorrow, start early". I looked at him confused. I grabbed my skateboard and rode home.

When I got there, my mom was sitting on the couch watching tv.

"Well, did you have fun today" she laughed.

"Yeah" I said.

"Some boy called couple hours ago, said if you where ready for him to pick you up?" My said.

"Shit, johnny" I muttered and closed my eyes.

"Who is he?" My mom asked.

"Uh just my lab partner" I lied.

"Oh okay well I think you'd better call him back he seemed annoyed". I went into my room and dialed Johnny's number on my phone.

"Hello" a voice said.

"Hi is johnny there?" I asked.

"Hey kid, some girl is on the phone" he said. "Stop talking to your idiot friends and answer this godman phone". Whoever this dude was, he was an asshole.

"Alright sid!" Johnny yelled back annoyed. The phone was handed to johnny. "Hello".

"Johnny" I said.

"Its about time" he sighed.

"I know, I am so sorry johnny I forgot about today, I-I was in train-

"Its fine" he said. I sighed relieved.

"You still want to go out?". I said.

"Well I got the guys over here" he said.

"Oh well maybe some other time then" I said.

"Yeah, I mean unless you want to come over" he said.

"I think I'll pass" I chuckled.

"Alright ill see you soon" I said.

"Sure thing"he laughed.

"Yeah I wasnt feeling so good" I lied.

"Well i hope you feel better" he said.

"Thanks" I said. "Bye". I hung up. I was goona have to tell him that I am training with Daniel and soon to be entering the championship, sooner or later.
