My Abundant Life

True Shepherd

God has blessed us with life.
where i am able to wake up and take breath, to walk the earth and feel the sun, to brush my hair and to stretch my limbs.

not only were we gifted life, but abundant life.
i am able to hear and play sweet music, to taste delicious foods and bathe in still creeks and watch the moon rise above the trees.

but what makes life abundant are the people we share these experiences with.
the friends you dance alongside to music, the longtime companions you go out to eat with or jump into a pond and laugh the night away.

i have spent most of this life wasted away in troubling and harsh thoughts towards myself.
i never felt good enough or that my life had meaning.
life alone did not feel abundant.
but with my friends - new and old - and loved ones in Christ, i was able to find the true joy that God wanted me to experience.
with my loving partner whom i was blessed with, i am able to realize and feel that i am loved,
and that i am worthy.

your life has meaning.
you have a purpose.
you are loved.
and you are great.

John 10:10-11
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep."

A/N: this poem was the last work published in my first poem book. it was the work that made me realize that i am not the same person from 5 years ago, and that i should make a new collection for my new chapter of life.
i will probably still update my first poems book since there are some works that I never published that are flooding the drafts, but i will try and keep this collection regularly updated as well.
