Chapter Five

"I'm standing in your line
I do hope you have the time
I do pick a number too
I do keep a date with you"

Richie felt an eerie sense as if someone had begun to follow him and Eddie. Turning to look behind him every few seconds to find nothing behind them. Eddie’s watch alarmed him that it's time to take his pills fiddling with his fanny pack, to pop a few more pills.  Richie stopped waiting for his best friend to take his medication.

Time passed and later everyone gathered around riding through the town. Rushing over to Beverly Marsh’s apartment complex. Eddie began to moan and groan complaining about how sunburns are dangerous, little did he know that would be the smallest thing of the day.”You know Eds your Mom moans just as much in bed as you are right now.” Richie blurted causing Eddie to moan more as well as roll his eyes. “Hey Juliet,” Richie called to Beverly as everyone threw their bikes to the grassy hill except for little old Stan using his kickstand. “Richie why don’t you tell Eddie to save his moaning for your bedroom.” The short-haired fiery red headed girl fired back at Richie’s remark. “Come on, I have something to show you,” Beverly blurted. The sound of panic in her voice began to rise as she spoke.

“More than we saw at the quarry,” Richie joked yet again was rejected by being ignored by his friends.”We need someone to keep guard,” Stan told everyone, everyone voted Trashmouth. “Wait what if her Dad comes back?” Richie asked “Do what you always do, start talking,” Stan restored back to his annoying friend. “It is a gift!” Richie shouted as Stan rushed up the fire escape. Richard fiddled with the pack of cigarettes placed in his front pocket. Lighting the cancer stick placing it between his lush lips. Taking a drag, breathing in the toxins. Richie could feel the smoke filling his lungs. He let it all out.No secondhand amusement from his friends. None of the whole that can kill you lecture from Eddie. Richie truly loved Ed's however, the sound of his voice ringing in his ears. Telling him to stop before he kills himself.

Yet Richie could care less, as he took the final drag, crushing his cigarette putting out the hot ash. Just in time for his friends to come back. Breaking his daydream, snapping him back into the brutal nightmare deemed reality.
