Addilynn was sat at the Ravenclaw table in the big hall with all the other students in her house. She was sat opposite Connor, the boy she had met on the Hogwarts Express. It never clicked in her mind that he was in the same house as her mainly because when they had their encounter he too was in muggle clothing. He sent her a small smile as the sorting ceremony started to come to an end. Smiling back Addilynn realized that it might be handy to at least have one person she knew as it had occurred to her that the castle was massive, she has no clue where her classes were and there would be a high chance she would get lost. Also, the fact deep in her mind she knew she would get lonely here.
A man, which Addilynn recognized from a week ago began to speak. "I have a few start of term notices I wish to announce. The first years please note that the dark forest is strictly forbidden to all students. Also, our caretaker, Mr. Filch has asked me to remind you that the 3rd-floor corridor on the right-hand side is out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a most painful death. Thank you. Now let the feast begin". Food appeared right in front of Addilynn, the same as everyone else. This took her by surprise, to say the least.
"Does this happen every year?", Addilynn question Connor. Connor nodded back while beginning to put a roasted potato in his mouth. After finishing his mouth full the raven-haired boy began to talk.
"Every year new students join, so we welcome them with a big feast. Magic is used for everything here, you'll get used to it". Addilynn nodded while picking up a sausage. Maybe it was going to take a bit longer to adjust than she anticipated.
"May I ask?" Connor said interjecting her thoughts. "How are you supposed to join us in our fifth year if you don't even know what you are doing". Addilynn simply shrugged. She had no idea as well. "They wouldn't put me in here if they didn't think I was capable enough to do whatever it is you do". Connor put the conversation to rest once he realized that she was confused about it too and because of this he sent her another reassuring smile.
After the feast, Addilynn followed the rest of the Ravenclaw's back to the common room walking alongside Connor. They were talking casually getting to know each other better before she heard someone call her name. She turned around to see another tall boy, not as tall as Connor though, with brown hair and brown eyes trying to get her attention.
"Can I help you?", the brunette girl asked.
"I've been informed that you needed tutoring and the headmaster put me up to it", the boy said.
"Oh right. I had no idea sorry. What's your name?", Addilynn questioned with a bit of hesitation. She had wondered why the headmaster had sent a Slytherin to teach her rather than someone else from her house.
"Adrian Pucey. Now I need to get back to my common room so can we hurry this up and make a time to meet up", he said in an annoyed tone of voice. "I'm free whenever, until quidditch starts up again", he added.
Addilynn looked down at her timetable she was given at the end of the feast. "In the free period then?". She had managed to catch a glimpse of Adrain's timetable and they both had a free period at the same time. But she didn't know for sure as she wasn't able to get a perfect view of it.
"Works for me I'll see you in the library then", he stated and walked off, trying to catch up with his fellow Slytherins.
Connor and Addilynn began to walk to the common room in silence, but what made it worse was the awkward silence as the two didn't know what to say after than encounter. Connor could sense the tension and decided it was time to clear the air.
"I'm not surprised he's tutoring you". This caught Addilynn's attention and made her furrow her eyebrows at the blue-eyed boy. "He's one of the smartest in our year, believe it or not. But I guess he needs good grades for quidditch anyway".
Addilynn nodded. "I mean he sort of seemed nice". There was a pause before she then asked "What's quidditch?"
"You mean you have no idea what quidditch is", Connor exclaimed.
The brown-eyed girl shook her head chuckling at the surprised face that Connor had.
"Quidditch is a game played by wizards and witches. Each team consists of seven players, each flying on a broomstick while the players attempt to throw roughly the size of soccer-ball called quaffles, through three large hoop goals at either end of the pitch and its if you geg a goal it's worth 10 points for your team. While the seeker is looking for the golden snitch which is worth additional 150 points. Sometimes it's enough to get your team to win, but sometimes it isn't. A team is made up of three chasers, two beaters, one seeker, and one keeper. I'm one of the chasers for the Ravenclaw quidditch team", Connor said proudly.
"Oh my that's a lot to take in", Addilynn said taking a breath. "But it does sound fun I'm not going to lie".
"Oh, it's so much fun. I'll have to take you out one time and teach you the game. You have the right body shape for a chaser. However, it's not based on body shape though, your skill in quidditch has a massive impact on whether you make the team or not. But saying that Slytherin doesn't base it on skill, they base it on how wealthy or well known your family is, typically speaking. Adrian is one of the chasers for the Slytherin team. He is the only person in the team that plays fair the rest play dirty and that's why every other house hates playing against them", Connor went on to say.
"The Slytherin team sounds like a bunch of dicks. Well apart from Adrain from what you've told me. But I'll take you up on that offer. I do want to give quidditch a try if I can", Addilynn said with a smile on her face.
By the time both finished talking they had made there way to the common room, where Connor answered the riddle and both stepped inside. It was gorgeous and it took Addilynn by surprise that her mouth had formed a gape. There was a fireplace on the right to where they had entered, which was surrounded by two blue couches, and a coffee table. To the back, there were shelves of books and a table with quite a few seats around it where Addilynn guessed people went to study if there was no room in the library. Opposite where the two had entered was a conservatory with a telescope and a couch there, which made Addilynn's heart melt. She had always been intrigued by stars and now she finally had a chance to study them in her free time if she wished. But then she remembered her study sessions with Adrian. "Maybe after I've caught up then", she told herself. A few meters to the right of the conservatory there was a set of stairs which lead to the dormitory. Boys to the left and girls to the right.
Once Addilynn entered her dormitory she had seen that her stuff had been brought up to her which included her owl, trunk, wand, uniform, etc. There were four other beds in the room with her bed. Each was occupied with four other girls, which she had briefly gotten to know. Olivia, Holly, Natalie, and Mia. She remembered Holly the most because she was also on the Ravenclaw quidditch team, except instead of being a chaser like Connor, she was the keeper. Hogwarts was already so much different to St. Andrews. Suddenly, for the first time since being at Hogwarts Addilynn felt an excitement rush through her body.

So this chapter is the longest by far. It's currently raining so I decided to write this chapter before we go somewhere else tomorrow where I most likely won't have wifi. But I'm enjoying writing this now. As you can see I've made a few changes to the Ravenclaw quidditch team but there will only be one more change and I'm pretty sure you will be able to guess it. Anyways saying that I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Best wishes
