VALENCIA
I couldn't believe it when I already had nearly three-plus billion downloads on my new album and it just came out two days ago.
This was a huge accomplishment and I couldn't be any happier. Seeing this happen is crazy. I've never once expected this in my whole fourteen years of singing.
I used to always dream about having a billion streams when I was just a child. Through ups and downs on joining the spotlight and it all started when I was just fifteen years old.
I was discovered by my manager in mid-2007 and had such a bad English accent when I started. I grew up in France and I was rarely taught English.
I had to learn that language a year after I was discovered from singing. Though it was tricky at first, it became easy and it was worth it.
"This is exciting! I'm so happy for you, V!" Nova exclaimed. I turned as a smile danced around on my lips. She patted my back, a huge grin on her lips as she looked at my laptop.
Oh, wait, I'm sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Valencia Beaufoy - though I only go by my first name - and I'm 28. That's pretty much old but it's alright. I was born in France, in the famous city: of Paris.
My parents were originally both French-Canadian but they got a job there and moved there before they had me. Besides speaking French and English, I'm also fluent in Italian as my mother's mom was born in the country.
My parents were high school sweethearts back then and had their happily ever after. They got married when they were eighteen and had me a year four years later. As cute as it gets, my parents started dating when they were thirteen.
Soon, I had two little devils of brothers after me. I was the oldest at twenty-eight and the middle: twenty-four. The youngest just turned twenty-two.
My parents initially wanted more children. But they had miscarriages and troubles making a kid for almost eleven years. They couldn't bear the pain anymore as it was too much so they stopped after they had my youngest brother.
I called my parents and brothers as they found out the news. They were excited and happy for me. My boyfriend, Carter, also called and congratulated me by giving me a bunch of my favourite flowers and a card.
I sighed as I went through social media to see what has happened over the past few days. I wasn't even bothered until I spotted a familiar hockey player on my screen.
Nova noticed my screen and gave me a look. I knew what she was doing and shrugged it off. I playfully rolled my eyes at her as I closed my phone with a click.
"Don't give me that look. I'm in a happy relationship." Nova rolled her eyes as I said 'happy'.
She just hummed. "Happy? Are you sure?"
"Yes, I am," I responded, confidently, ignoring her remark. "Let's not worry about that right now. We need to party."
Nova smirked. "I agree. We need to get laid." That stopped me.
"Really?"
"Yes! Especially you! Carter is not good enough for you." She shrugged her shoulders and grabbed my hand as we went upstairs to my bedroom.
"Hey! He's my boyfriend you're talking about." I defended myself and Nova scoffed.
Then, she raised her arms in mid-air in defence and avoided the conversation as she looked over my closet. I thought for a second when Carter came across my head.
I picked up my phone and called him to see if he wanted to join us. A few rings and he picked up the call, Nova convinced me not to but I ignored her.
After convincing him, Carter decided to go and it brought Nova and I an extra person to join in our little party. It was a celebration and it seemed like a good night to do. I hit a record and my name's on the news all day long.
