Faye's point of view
I'd always loved the fact that my birthday was so soon after Lisa's because we'd had the same friends though primary school, so we always ended up having one party for both of our birthdays. And this year was no different, although having not had one last year we were both very excited. I hadn't even had a party last year, the closest I'd got to a 'birthday' celebration was Tara's Halloween party, which had been boring because it was a popular girl party and every second had been planned out in advance, and I'd hated every minute of it. My conclusion had been that the best kind of party was the ones that were hardly planned, or planned to the degree of 'we're gonna go do this, and that, and then go back to her house'.

It was pissing down with rain this morning, and I was still tucked under the covers of my bed, in my PJs, hugging my bear and watching videos on Youtube out loud (the joys of having the loft conversion to myself meant no-one else was close enough to my room to complain), when there was a knock at the front door. I swore as I remembered that today was the day I'd invited Lisa round so we could talk about our birthdays, and I ran down the two flights of stairs to answer the door.
She took one look at me before speaking. "You forgot didn't you."
I nodded. "Yep, and that's the fastest I've ever taken those stairs."
"Muppet." She said, hugging me anyway.
I laughed, and headed to the kitchen to get some cereal while Lisa took her shoes off. I couldn't decide what cereal I wanted so mixed a couple together in a bowl. Yes I ate dry cereal a lot, no that isn't exactly a weird thing.

"So do you have any degree of a plan?" Lisa asked, as we walked up the stairs.
I shrugged. "I'm incapable of making a plan and you know it."
She giggled and I pushed my bedroom door open. "Sorry my room's kinda messy."
"Still tidier than mine." Lisa replied, sitting down at one end of my bed and picking up a rouge teddy bear. I sat down on the other end and started eating my cereal.
"Do you have any ideas?" I asked her.
"Nope. Well... no, I thought I did."
I sighed. "Well then, that was conclusive."
"I mean we could just play video games together again. That was fun." Lisa said with a hopeful smile.
"Not happening."
"Why not? Are you scared I'll beat you at tennis again?" She teased.
"I just don't think it's a particularly exciting way to spend an entire day." I said.
Lisa looked at me. "But can we for a bit? I mean my mum said I can have you guys round for a sleepover again like we did in the summer, but obviously H is coming too."
"I mean obviously." I replied, pushing her gently. "Your boyfriend!"
She gasped. "No!" She squealed, before the most horrified expression ever crossed her face.
I laughed at her. "Well you keep teasing Lee and I." I actually was slowly coming to terms with the fact that I had feelings for him. Stronger feelings than I'd had when we'd been little primary school children. I wasn't willing to admit it to anyone, not even to myself, but I had a feeling I might have a little crush on him.
"But that's different!" She replied, still unable to shake off her expression. "I mean you've known him more than a couple of weeks for a start."
I smiled. I felt like teasing her a little more than I already had. "That means nothing! You've known him just as long, so maybe it's you who likes him?"
She shook her head, and the matter was left there. "Shall we go back to thinking about birthdays?" She asked.
"Probably best." I replied.

Neither of us had any ideas, so we decided to ask Lee to come meet us and then go find the other two. The logic was that maybe they'd give us some inspiration, though neither of us were hopeful.
"Just a thought here, finding the others is all well and good, but where are we going to go given the weather?" Lisa asked me.
"That's a fair point." I replied. "We could just come back here or go back to yours I guess?"
"To hell with going to mine, both my brothers and my mum are at home!" Lisa replied.
"Here then." I replied with a smile, just as there was a knock at the door. I couldn't be bothered to move and both Isobel and Martha were at home, one of them could get it. Lisa stared at me as if expecting me to go get it.
"FAYE ITS YOUR BOYFRIEND!" Martha called from the bottom of my stairs.
"Right so she still thinks that then." I said to Lisa. Ever since my sister had found out that girls grow up and get boyfriends she'd taken the micky out of me and Lee by saying we were dating. I could sense Lee was outside facepalming about it as well. I grabbed some shoes out the cupboard and headed downstairs, dragging Lisa along by her wrists.
