Chapter 5

So i worked on this almost nonstop just for you guys as a thank you.

Harley's POV.

"You have got to be kidding." Carol says looking at Peter like he was from Mars. "Nope. I am completely serious." He responds with a straight face. What are they talking about? Cooper voices what I'm pretty sure all of us are thinking right now. "Well, after the snap Thanos went to a planet called the Garden. He stayed there for two weeks recovering before using the stones once more. He made the stones destroy themselves. Idiot here thinks that we should go to that time and steal the entire Gauntlet" "It's actually not a bad plan. Heck we have only two viable options. Thanos will be incredibly weak from the first Snap. Anyway, we'll try not to confront him. Wanda can use her powers to make him fall asleep. And Liam can set up an illusion to make things look normal in case he does get around Wanda." Emma says.

"It's still risky so not all of us should go. We need Wanda and Liam for their powers. Lila and I are the stealthiest so we can grab the glove of doom. Peter you and Harley will craft the gauntlet to Carol's measurements. Lila, Liam, Wanda and I will travel back in time." Cooper says

"Are we really planning to steal the gauntlet from Thanos?" I ask incredulously. "We don't have much of a choice. Either we do this or we live the guilt of knowing we could save them but doing nothing. Besides we are the next generation of avengers. We have been training for this day for the last ten years. Or longer in some cases. This is the fight of our lives. We have to win. We don't have another option. If this doesn't work..." Peter trailed off. "You know you sound like Steve sometimes with all these pep talks and inspirational speeches." Wanda joked. "Oh god no. I still remember his PSA's from high school. I'm pretty sure I can still recite the detention one word for word." Peter looks horrified.

Carol claps her hands looking amused, "Back to the topic at hand please?" "Right. So, Travel back in time, pull a time heist to steal the most dangerous objects in the universe and snap our fingers to resurrect half the life in the universe." I sum up "Crazy day even for us."

"Now, who will have the pleasure of informing the Accords committee of this development and answering the same questions hundreds of times over?" Lila deadpans. Several 'Not me' echo around the table. "Hey Peter came up with the plan. He should do it." Cooper suggests. "really? isn't it cooper's turn?" cooper stares at peter with a flat expression. "Me? Explain time travel? I barely understand how it works myself and I only read up on quantum physics because of this. I won't know what to say." "Fine. I'll do it but you guys owe me. And you're coming too Harley." Oh, come on! "Do I have to?" I whine. Exasperated, Peter answers, "Yes. Yes, you do. Whining like Layla when I tell her to sleep is not going to help."

The Accords meeting went as well as expected. The panel asked us the same question hundreds of times over, made us answer pointless questions. We told them that we were going to destroy the equipment that allowed time travel once we were done. They weren't too happy about that but we managed to make them see the risk was greater than the gain. If we changed something too much it could have disastrous consequences no matter what people's intentions were.

Leaving the hall, I said dryly, "Well that went well." "Could have gone worse" Peter retorted.

The next day all of us stood near the Quantum Portal. Lila, Liam, Wanda and Cooper were standing below the transporter. Finally, everybody stepped back. Peter and I head over to the controls. "3... 2... 1..." I pull the lever which triggers the portal and All three of them disappeared. "5... 4... 3... 2... 1..." peter counted. I pushed the lever up and they reappeared with the gauntlet. "For once it went according to plan" Cooper grinned. "And you've probably jinxed us." Emma sighed.

Peter brought out the nanotech gauntlet and put both inside a glass case. "J transfer the stones please." The tiny little robotic arms placed the stones in the smaller gauntlet. "FRIDAY please activate the Barn-door protocol. Steel shutters slammed down till the room was completely blocked. Everyone inside got behind some type of shield. Carol removed the gauntlet and tried to put it on.

But the moment it touched her fingers there was a flash of blue and the gauntlet was thrown across the room. She picked it up and tried again with the same result.

"Guys?" she said shakily. "I can't put the gauntlet on!"

Time skip- one hour later

"It's like her power is rejecting the gauntlet." I frowned. "Could it be protecting her?" Peter hypothesized. "Like the Aether did for Jane Foster? Because both of them came from infinity stones." "it's possible but that doesn't matter." I reply. "Carol is the only person who could snap without causing lasting damage to her body. Even Peter's healing factor wouldn't be enough. He'd still die."

"This means, for everyone to come back one of us will have to die."
