It's been about a whole month now. Kambe has gotten most if not all of his memories back, as well as his snarky pain in the ass personality. He still hasn't remembered anything about our "past relationship". Which I guess, it's a good thing. But it's making me suspicious. Whatever, it's nothing to dwell about. He's still here and he's happy, that's all that matters. Now, he's come back to working in the first division. We don't see each other often besides on our walk home, which he now goes back to his own house. Still giving me a kiss before we part ways, which makes me blush every time. All that said, I hate myself. Ashamed. Because more than once I actually liked him being so helpless, needing to rely on me. I've never thought about getting some brain surgery done for him though. It's his own body, not mine.

And he's still here.

He's still happy.

That's all that matters.

"Haru, I'm going on a mission for a couple of days, so I won't be around. Can you handle things on your own?" He asks me as we walk to the station, me struggling to put on my tie. "I'm not some three year old Kambe, yes I'll be fine." I snap back, now getting frustrated. How the hell do I do this again? It's up, cross, uhh..no no it's-

Kambe giggled a little which made my heart flutter, just seeing him naturally smile was enough for me. He stood in front of me and fixed my tie. "You're such a mess, Inspector Kato," he says nonchalantly, I don't know why but just something about that name makes my heart POUND. "Yeah yeah...I'll see you later," he nods, pushing my bangs back and kissing my forehead. He walks away, thankfully not being able to see the bright blush covering my face.

The day was pretty slow, finally it was over. I wait outside the building for Kambe, soon remembering that he won't be there to walk with me. I frown as I walk home. By now it was 3 AM in the morning. I couldn't sleep, flushed with worry. Waiting for some call or text from Kambe, normally he messages me throughout missions. Maybe he was just busy... Still.

I kept checking my phone, the bright light flashing and illuminating my pitch black room. Maybe I should just call him? That would certainly make it easier, I dial in his number and call.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring.

Your call has been forwarded to an automatic voice system, 8-

I end the call, he didn't answer.

I sigh, still worried. I'll call again, just to make sure.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring.

"Hello?"

Kambe called, he sounded frantic. His voice was heavy, and he was panting. There were distant thud thud thuds shaking whatever device he was using, making woosh sounds. Was he running?

"Kambe! It's Haru, what're you doing?"

"I can't talk right now."

He hangs up again.

What the hell was that?! What is going on!? There's no way I can go back to sleep after that, I dash out of bed grabbing my coat and phone running out the door. Where do I even go? Then, it hit me. I run towards Kambe's mansion, collapsing at the doorway pounding my fist with loud thuds. One of the butlers answered the door, "Hello, How may I-"

"I need to see Suzue! Take me to Suzue!" I interrupted, I can't waste any time. The butler escorts me to the room as I open the door to a panicking Suzue, pacing back and forth. "What's going on?!" I yell, catching her attention as she looks at me. "The mission Daisuke is on has been compromised, there are terrorist attacks. People are trying to get him killed for his wealth, I've tried my best but I'm not sure what to do," She looked like she was about to burst into tears.

"Can you send me there?"

Suzue obliged.
