Enesta was a smart girl, so it was no doubt that she discovered what was going to happen. However, no one else seemed to believe her.
First, the high school junior had warned her family. She told them specifically: "It is Within, and you all must prepare. I don't think I can be of any help when it comes." She had said it so clearly and tried to explain, but they didn't understand. Were they not as smart as she thought? Odd, considering her parents were both in the field of science for work.
However, she couldn't dwell on that. Someone had to know. Someone had to see.
So she tried at school. She was known to not make many jokes but was friendly enough, so maybe...
Approaching her small friend group of three, she spoke exactly: "It is Within, and you all must prepare. I don't think I can be of any help when it comes." Her best friend of the group, Maria, blinked. "Are you okay Enesta?" They didn't get it. So she tried to explain. But it wouldn't let her. It was almost here. It's getting faster.
Enesta left the group to figure it out. Maybe if they contacted her family they could learn what she was able to say yesterday.
...Maybe.

Enesta was shocked that no one had seen it earlier. She had been trying to tell them in more indirect ways before, so it wouldn't notice, but that hadn't done anything. So she tried directly, but it seems she was too late, even if it was still within.
Enesta looked into her red-trimmed rectangle mirror, Her dark brown hair tied in a tight braid. Braids, she thought, always complimented her brown eyes and her rounder face. She didn't know if they would still compliment her after the fact. All she knew was that it was coming, and it was bad. However, she didn't know what it would do.
She looked into her own eyes for a few moments. She may as well study herself before it comes. Exiting her room, she did not smile.

She usually wore dresses but had started wearing pants and shirts more. Surely, now that she could no longer speak of it, people would notice her new style? Her new attitude? And maybe they would link it to her words.
. . .
She knew she was reaching too far. Enesta was a smart girl. She may as well trust her mind while she could. It was all she had for the next day.

Enesta skipped into school, her hair undone. Maria grinned at her familiar friend. "Hi, Enesta! You seem happier today than yesterday. Anything special happen?"
Enesta looked at the girl. "You could say that." "Oh, hey, I was wondering. What was that within thing? You seemed really into that. Is it still within?" Maria laughed, smiling at her BFF.
Enesta grinned sharply back, her blue eyes grinning with her. "It was."
