Kuzgun passed many groups of people as he made his way to the bar, making sure not to bump into anyone as he went. It was a busy place and he didn't know the type of crowd he was entering into, so he made sure to be cautious.
When he reached the bar he waited for the bartender to finish making other drinks first and he casually placed his hands inside his trouser pockets to wait patiently.
The night had been great, Dila had enjoyed herself and seeing her friends was exactly what she needed. She only had Seda back at home and since he had learnt that most of them were returning to Turkey in the next few months, he hoped they would see them more often.
There was this aura and glow to Dila when surrounded by her friends that he didn't really get to see. It was beautiful and he wanted it for her so badly, to be able to give her. A complete and full life she had always wanted, even if she would say she was completely happy the way they were. Seeing her friends more often was an added bonus to their already perfect life together.
Kuzgun was never the most social person, but he had learnt a lot from Dila. As always she taught him everything he needed to know that was valuable to him.
He was taken out of his thoughts when he noticed the bartender nod at him at him to take his order.
He suddenly remembered he had to once again speak in English, "Er, can I get....," he paused and had to think of the words for a moment, "Two gin and tonics...three glasses of white wine, and a beer please?"
The bartender nodded and started making the drinks for him.
Kuzgun reached back into his trouser pocket to get his wallet out when he heard a loud group of men behind him. He didn't turn around, but the rise in decibels of their laughter and one man's distinctive loud voice taking over the conversation, made other people who stood at the bar with him, turn around.
"Ah did you see her though?" the man with the louder voice asked the group, "she looked even more stunning than she did at 21," he said in awe, "her figure looked incredible in that dress"
"So why did we leave so quickly? You've always talked about her," another guy enquired, "didn't you want to try again after all this time? You know, I heard the 100th time's a charm" he joked.
Kuzgun stood up straighter in his position at the bar and placed his wallet back into his pocket.
There was no way he would be able to stop listening to the conversation, the group of men made sure they could be heard by everyone in the place.
"Very funny," the main man replied sarcastically, "I wasn't that interested in the reunion anyway"
Kuzgun grit his teeth, but he tried to shake it off.
It couldn't be who he thought it was.
"But I saw her with a guy, that's why. They were all over each other the whole night. Looks like she's married now"
Kuzgun then closed his eyes and rolled his tongue in his mouth. He swallowed hard, trying to push the anger back down and he felt the tick in his jaw go.
This was all starting to sound too familiar and he heavily exhaled, trying to keep his cool.
"You didn't say you wouldn't try though" another man interjected with a chuckle and Kuzgun clenched down on his jaw so tightly and started to grind his teeth together.
He needed to take a deep breath, he didn't know if these men were talking about Dila or not.
He also promised her he would be good, this was all just guy talk, whether it was crossing a line or not. There was a chance this wasn't even about her and he had no reason to get worked up over it.
