Ok this is my first story and I started it at the beginning of my sophomore year(last year) and I've been working on it having people look over it and i finally have time to upload.... If you are book oriented then you might catch some of my references to them if you are not well there are some in here. Most of the characters are based off of my friends..... (Those of you that read this know who you are...) So i hope that you guys enjoy this........ My Life is Gone..........

The burning heat of my blood washed down my wrists to my hands. I gasp from the sweet pain in my arms. It's the good type of pain, the pain I enjoy to forget about what is going to happen tonight. "BTZZZZZ...BTZZZZZ...BTZZZZZ ..." I go to the sink and wash off my arms and hands. I open my phone and there is one word typed there: "Don't" It's my best friend, .  I text him back "2 late". I send that and then open up a new text, I text my brother "Salem's coming over". And then I text Salem again, "Come over?" As I wait for a reply I go down stairs and find my favorite hoodie to cover up the slashes on my arms. It's kind of a joke, the hoodie. It's all black with a neon green and a neon orange snake that wind their way around the jacket. The tails start at the hood coiled around where my ears would be. Then they cross at the back of the neck and come down to the front where there's a heart that they are squeezing with their midsection. Then they branch off to either side and go down the arms of the jacket to where their heads make built-in gloves that are fingerless except the ring and the middle fingers are covered with white for the fangs.

I feel my phone vibrate. I open it up and see "B there in 30 sec." I sigh sadly with tears coming to my eyes and think to myself "Why me? What did I ever do to deserve this?" I hear a knock on the door and Salem walks in. I walk up to him and we embrace each other. I start to sob and I collapse into his arms. He picks me up like I weigh nothing and carries me up to my room and puts me on the bed. He gets the chair from across the room brings it over next to the bed and straddles it. He plays with my long hair wile I sit there staring out the window with silent tears going down my cheeks. I look at Salem and try to see why he is still my friend. He's my only and longest friend. Other then my brother, I think he's the only one that would give a shit if I left this world.

All it would take is one quick movement for whatever tool I chose to do the job and it would be all over in four quick seconds, at the most. I make my decision and am about to tell Salem how I feel. If he rejects it then there would be no more anything. No more world. Only a memory. No, not even that, a whisper of what could be.

As I glance at the clock I see Salem out of the corner of my eye. He is playing with one of the long black strands of my hair. He also seems to be thinking intently. He looks up into my face and opens his mouth to speak. Then all of a sudden I hear my cell phone go off with the ring tone of Achmed's remix. He closes his mouth and glares at my cell like he could break it in half. I pick it up and notice that my brother, Nate, is calling. I answer by saying what up. He says something that I've wanted to hear for a long, long time. But Nate was involved too, so what comes out of my mouth is, "WHAT?! Are you okay? Please tell me what happened." I ask with tears rolling down my cheeks.

He says, "Not right now, I'll be home tomorrow, I'll tell you then."

"Okay. Let me know what happens. Bye"

I hang up and just sit there reveling in the moment, silent tears going down my face. Salem asks what happened. I say in a monotone, "Nate and my dad were in a crash. Nate says that the EMT's don't think my dad is going to make it." I finish with a squeak and burst in to tears that have been hold up inside of me for so many years.

Salem embraces me and tries to comfort me. "I'm sorry about your dad, I know you guys were close."

"Ha! A lot more then you would ever guess." I say sarcastically.

"What do you mean?" Salem asks, pulling away from me.

I chuckle humorlessly and tell him everything. He looked like he was going to be sick. "We should tell someone."

"You're parents."

Salem scrunches his forehead and says, "Why? My mom hates you and your family's guts."

"That's why I should tell them of all people. They all ready hate my family, so what else is there to hate?"

"Are you sure?" I give him a pointed look. "Okay, okay, what ever you say."

"I know you guys don't like me that much and think I'm a bad influence for your son. But the truth is...is that if it weren't for him I would probably have committed suicide a long time ago. I was actually thinking about going through with it tonight, and if Salem hadn't come over I probably would have." I hear a sharp intake of breath from where Salem was sitting on the couch. "I've had to deal with a lot of... stuff over the years."

"And what is soooo significant that has happened to your oh so special and messed up life?" Salem's mom asks clearly annoyed.

"I know it may seem that way to you, but the reason for why I'm like this is because..."

"Because you're a pathetically, messed up brat that doesn't get the hint that she's not wanted? Your own mother left you. Who else could ever want you if your mother never did?"

I flinch at the words as Salem jumps off the couch and turns to his mother and starts to yell, "No, mom, the reason why Mikeala is the way she is, is because her father rapes her. Her brother called her and told her that her father and he had been in a crash and her dad won't make it, thank god for that. So no she is not a pathetic brat! If any thing you are! And you say that no one wants her? Then you are even more naïve then I thought! There is no way on God's green earth that will make me ignore Mikeala's plea for help." Salem grabs my upper arm and slowly pulls up the arm of my jacket to show his parents the scars, the scabs and the fresh cuts that I made earlier. Salem's mom is speechless and is just staring at my arm.

She looks up at my face and as I look her straight in the eye I say in my empty monotone, "She didn't leave. He killed her, my dad killed my mom. The same exact day I met Salem." Her eyes widen a little and I knew she knew that I knew who she was.

"WHAT?!" I hear Salem yell behind me. I jump a little at the outburst. He comes over to me and looks me in the eye and says "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because... because if I did he would have killed Nate. He knew that if he threatened my life then I would have told someone in a heartbeat. That bastard new how to hit a person right where it counts." I say and Salem could tell that it hurt to say the words out loud. Salem wraps his arms around me and I just lean in to him and turn back to his parents and say, "Right now my brother is all the family I have left. The reason why I told you of all people is because I know you have a strong faith in your God and even though I'm atheist and do not believe in God, I do believe in some of the miracles that the bible talks about. And what I've seen is, to me, a miracle; a wish come true. The miraculous event I believe in is of our guardian angles come to walk the earth. I think your son is my guardian angel. He's saved me from myself, multiple times. Including tonight."

I look up into Salem's face and notice a single tear fall down his cheek. I notice that I am crying too. I try to wipe the tears away but he catches my hand and leans down and kisses me so deeply that I have only begun to dream of. I hear his parents gasp but I don't care. All I care about is that Salem and I are here. He pulls away and I look in to his dark green eyes and realize that he has felt this way for a while now. His parents start to yell some obscenities at me, but Salemstops them and says, "If you can't live with Mikeala being around more, then I'm moving out."
