"Omo, It startled me! Must be mom!" Ava placed the ring on her nightstand and ran out of the room with a smile plastered on her face. Unlike her normal self, who would count the number of stairs while climbing down, she skipped it and rushed to open the main door for her mother.

" Mom!" She pulled the older into a bone-crushing hug, once she stepped inside. Her mother giggled hugging her back with one hand since she had some shopping bags in the other.

" Many many happy returns of the day! And I'm so sorry for ditching you on your birthday, darling. But you can understand, hmm? I had to attend an emergency case. The patient's life was in danger" She said while kissing the top of her daughter's head. She was guilty. The day was about to over in a few hours and she couldn't spend some time with her daughter on her 18th birthday. As a doctor, she should be ready at any time if someone needed her. But she wanted to to make it up to her. This was special. Her daughter became an adult today.

" It's okay mom, I understand, A person's life is more important, besides, I had fun with Mary and Elena today. We went to the beach."  She looked up at the older's face and smiled cutely. The mother gazed her daughter with affection and kissed her forehead before pulling away.

" Here, I got this for you. Let's cut it once I freshen up." She gave her the cake package and the sweets she had brought for her lovely daughter.

" Thank you, mom!" Ava happily took them from her and thanked her.

" And I have a surprise for you. But only after the cake cutting"

"Okay, mom!"

After their small celebration, Ava and her mother cleaned the kitchen. She was going to go to her room when her mother called from behind.

" Sweety, I'll be off to work early in the morning. I have to make sure the patient's condition is under control so please don't panic if you don't see me here when you wake up"

" Okay mom, Good night"

" Good night, sleep well dear!"

Ava went off to sleep, totally forgetting the ring on her nightstand.

The birds were chirping, welcoming a new beautiful morning. Ava snuggled in her bed. She liked the warmth she was getting from hugging the giant pillow. Why was it so warm today? She traced her fingers over it but instead of the usual softness, they grazed against something hard. Like someone's chest? She was still not fully awake so she shrugged it off and hugged it tightly. Then she felt something wrapping around her waist pulling her closer.

She was annoyed but slowly opened her eyes to be greeted with the most beautiful face she's ever seen in her entire life. His attire and hairstyle looked as if he was the prince charming from fairytales.

Wow, he's so handsome!

What a wonderful dream!

He's smiling at me and it's a box smile!

She thought and smiled back at him, eyes half-open. He chuckled and pressed a soft kiss on her forehead. It felt so soft against her skin. Wasn't it supposed to be a dream? Why was she feeling it?

" Good morning, My princess!"

A deep voice spoke. His voice was somehow familiar and soothing. Wait a minute! Did he just say " Good morning, My princess" to her?

The alarm in her mind turned on and she opened her eyes wide. It WAS not a dream. There was a handsome man in her bed with his arms snaked around her, tightly. His warm breath was fanning her face.

" Ahhhhhhhh~" She screamed pushing him off her and jumped out of the bed, panicking.

"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU? WHY ARE YOU IN MY BED? MOM! MOM!" She yelled at him and called her mother before this stranger could hurt her.

"Relax! I can explain, Don't shout!" He asked her to calm down.

" MOM~!" Ava dashed out of the room to find her mom. She nonstop called out her name, hoping that she would show up and beat the shit out of this stranger who dared to trespass into her daughter's bedroom. But she was nowhere to be seen so Ava ran into the kitchen. She wasn't there also.

Where is she? She bit her nails in nervousness and looked back to check if the man had followed her.

"Sweety, I'll be off to work early in the morning."

She remembered her mother saying it last night and panicked more. She was alone home with a stranger inside. He even dared to get in her bed and hug her, On top of that, called her his princess. What kind of drama was this?.

Should she run? Call for help?

Yup! Definitely!

She walked back to the living room and heard footsteps from upstairs. She was quick enough to reach the door but not enough to open it as a pair of strong, muscular arms embraced her waist and lifted her off the floor.
