The ding of the bell as I pushed open the door engulfed me with warmth and gentle chatter.. and loud laughter from my friends at a table waiting for me to sit with them.
The coffee shop was small and cheap and I suggested it to my friends hoping I could afford it, the only things they sold were breakfasts and coffee. As I moved towards the table I smelled the strong, bitterness of the coffee Yoongi was drinking next to where I sat down.
Yoongi usually wouldn't choose something so strong but by the bags under his eyes and the beanie he wore to cover his bed hair I assumed he mustn't have gotten much sleep the night before.
Namjoon however across the table from me seemed wide awake. He sipped at a caramel macchiato closing his book to smile and pay attention to the group now I had arrived.
Seokjin next to him was always well dressed, he worked at a famous and rich business none of us even had the chance of even making it to; he only got the job because of his fathers riches.
"I'll have a water thank you." I bowed to the waitress that had arrived at the table since i had sat down. Yoongi turned to me with a curious squint of his eyes, "did you cut your hair yourself again?" He asked quite rudely, he never meant it to be of course, just his deep and grouchy tired voice masked the polite intent of his half compliment. "Uh yeah I did." I replied with a smile. "It looks nice (y/n)!" Namjoon smiled taking his glasses off and placing them on his head to reveal the depth of his brown eyes staring into my own. "Not as nice as me of course but you're pretty." Seokjin added which earned a slap from Namjoon and a sigh from myself.
"Why cut it yourself? You didn't have to pay off your student loans so surely you have something in the bank?" Seokjin asked curiously, which took me by surprise. Yes the facts were correct other than the last one. I had little to none in my wallet. But I nodded despite the truth hiding in my pocket. "Yeah. I just don't find professional haircuts needed if I have scissors of my own at home." I shrugged and his eyebrows furrowed slightly, "it's only 60 for a trim where I get it done. I could take you there some time." I sighed internally thinking to myself 'I don't even have 10' but as before I just smiled as said "sure!"
"The bill please." Namjoon finally asked after talking to us all about our studies. Yoongi sat up ready to leave until Namjoon grabbed his jacket from across the table and forced him to sit down once again. "Who's paying today?" He asked politely and looked at us all with gentle eyes. "I payed last week?" Yoongi question and Namjoon confirmed it with a nod, "and I payed the week before." Namjoon added. We all looked at Seokjin and he instantly victimised himself by putting his hands up in surprise, "I payed for dinner last night!" He said thinking on the spot, and the fact was true. But that meant I had to pay with the little I had left.
I looked at the price and shrugged, "sure I'll pay." It wasn't too expensive I told myself but considering I don't earn money at all and what I had left was money from my grandma that she had put in a birthday card. I payed the bill and Seokjin covered the tip for the waitress. We all stood and parted our ways.
Seokjin walked me to my apartment and he welcomed himself inside. My apartment had everything essential, I had just payed off my bills and I couldn't afford anything for the next month. He sighed and turned on the tv only to find no channels available because I couldn't pay off the television bill. "You need a job." he said harshly but he only spoke to truth. "Yeah. But nowhere will accept me." I sighed standing in the kitchen watching him in the living room across the small hall. Yes. That's how small my apartment was.
"I'm still a student." Seokjin smiled and nodded. He had just finished his courses. He had his diploma now and could run free; I on the other hand only had some basic ass qualifications that everyone achieves. Nothing special enough for me to get a decent enough job to be able to pay for my home any longer. "So is my boss. Or well he's a drop-out." Seokjins statement caught my mind.
I walked from the kitchen into the livingroom suddenly interested in the conversation. He sat me down next to him and he smiled. "Yeah, hes the same age as you." Seokjin smirked.
"That's hilarious."
"How?"
"You get bossed around by someone 4 years younger than you."
"ACTUALLY it's three and a few days."
"That doesn't make it any better-" we were laughing too much to focus for a moment. Despite the offence I took on Seokjin as a joke he still continued the conversation politely."I could get you an interview? But there's no guarantee you'll get the job." I stared into his eyes and he seemed genuine and honest. This is where the ego of his fizzles down into a kind smile. I guess by my cable being cut off he noticed I wasn't able to fend for myself this month as much as other before, he must've seen I was in need for help.
"Sure. Seokjin thank you so much." I said giving him a hug and he returned it with a sigh, "there's no guarantee you'll get an interview let alone a job.." he said sadly, but my mind was focussed on the fact he even thought of doing that for me. "Still. Thank you." He gripped me tighter as I begged to breathe for air and he giggled at my panting. "By the way what's your boss' name?" I asked curious about his boss as well as the job he even did. No one really knew or had the guts to ask because he was rich and egotistical and the two together can not turn out well.
"His name?"
"Hm? Yes.""Kim Taehyung"
