4. The Aftermath I

Mr. Bajaj was going through his mails sitting by Prerna’s bed waiting for her to wake up when he received a message from the driver that he had arrived at the hospital with kukki.

He went out of the room coming infront of Kukki who had her eyes trained everywhere looking the surroundings.
He bend to her height and said “ Kukki, aap ghar jaiyiye, waha par Mehra uncle honge, lunch karligiyega aur phir unke saath hi rahiyega. Aapki mamma so rahi hai isiliye jab wo jag jayegi toh main unko lekar aapke paas aa jaunga”

Kukki looked at her father with wide eyes hearing her mother is sleeping at this weird place.

He was about to tell the driver to take her home when he felt a tug at his coat.

He raised his eyebrows looking at kukki.   "mamma Ko dekhna hai” she said softly.

“Aayiye mere saath aur aap sirf dekhenge hi, mamma ko disturb maat karna, okay?” he said holding her hand and leading her inside.

“Okay” she spoke quietly and also entered the room with quiet steps so that he mamma doesn’t gets disturbed.

Rishab looked at his daughter in amusement.

Kukki went near Prerna’s bed and spoke softly to an unconscious Prerna “ I love you Mamma” and kissed her cheeks.

Rishab looked at her daughter in wonder at how easily she spoke those words to her mother and thought that may be someday he would too be able to says his feelings to Prerna with such ease.

It was almost 5 pm in the evening when Prerna gained consciousness. She fluttered her eyes open and took in her surroundings.

Realising she was not in her room, she started to panic when she felt two hands holding her.

She realised it was Rishab, breathing in his scent. Rishab told her to calm down and gave her a glass of water.

He said, “Aapko kaisa feel ho raha hain ab?”

“theek hoon” she replied a little harshly.

Rishab was taken aback hearing her tone.

“ Aap rukiye, I will complete the formalities of your discharge” he said softly to which she nodded.

He contemplated her behaviour on his way to the doctor. Thinking that its about what happened in Basu Bari he again swore revenge from them.

He got her discharged and took her home.

Rishab entered Basu Bari taking a weak Prerna in his arms. Anurag and his family were sending glares towards them. Mohini Basu was able to make a taunt when Rishab glared at her and she stepped back in fear.

Carrying Prerna to their room he made her sit in the bed. He had noticed her ignoring him from the hospital but now her behaviour was irking him.

Finally, he lost his patience and asked her “Prerna, aap mujhe ignore kyun kar rahi hai?”

Prerna replied sarcastically “meri itni jurrat ki mein aapko ignore karu?”

“Mrs. Bajaj..” he started but she cut in middle “mein aapki hoti kaun hun aapko ignore karne wali? Aura b toh mein Mrs. Bajaj nahi rehne wali”

He then realised she was upset with him for sending Divorce papers.

He replied softly “Prena aapka mujhme pura haq hain,Biwi ho aap meri. Mein jaanta hun divorce...”

Hearing divorce Prerna became mad in anger and said “Aap ko ab mujhme pity feel karne ki zaroorat nahi hai.”

Hearing her he became angry was about about to say something when she said again“janti hoon aap mujhse chutkara paana chahte hai, aur mein aaj behosh hi hui thi mari...”

She was cut off by his enraged voiced “Shut Up!!! Just shut up”

“ Aap mere koi nahi lagte hai, job hi rishta hai aapne divorce papers bhejke khatm hi kar di....” she was interrupted by his lips.

Not finding a way to stop her blabbering, Rishab planted his lips on her. He took her lower lip between his and kissed her hard.

Prerna was too shocked to respond and stood still, enjoying the feel of his lips.

Seeing her not responding to him he bit on her lip to which she opened her mouth and he started kissing her feverously exploring the contours of her mouth.

They parted for air and before she knew it he kissed her again this time more urgently pouring all his love, anger, desire and passion into the kiss.

Hearing her moan fuelled his desire more and he started peperring kisses from her lips to her jaw.

Their passion was broken when they heard the closing of a door.

Rishab looked at her in shock as he took in her dishevelled form, thoroughly kissed lips and messy hair.

He mumbled a sorry as he tugged on his hair in frustration and went out of the room cursing himself for losing his control.

Prerna touched her lips and felt a smile tugging on her lips when she thought about what occurred moments ago and then blushed.

The aftermath of the incident brought two hearts much closer than before.
