5. The Aftermath II

While love was blooming between two hearts, a raging fire was growing in the hall of Basu bari. After Mr. Bajaj took Prerna to his room, the other occupants were digussing about them. They were throwing digusting glances and glares behind them.

Anurag was the most affected one. He was breathing fire like a dragon enraged by Prerna's audacity to flaunt her love infront of him. He recalled that she had never let him touch her in public and today she was shamelessly enjoying in Mr.Bajaj's arms without showing any resistance.

Mrs. Mohini Basu said in anger " Dekha Anu, uss besharam, behaya aurat ki kartoot, waise toh usne kaha that ki uska Mr. Bajaj Ke saath koi pati-patni wala sambandh nahi tha,phir ye Baccha?"

"Mom?" Nivedita questioned " Kya aap bhi yehi soch rahi hai jo mein soch rahi hoon?"

" Haan, Nivi dekha jaye toh aisa hi lagta hai ki yeh Baccha Mr. Bajaj ki hi hai" Mrs. Basu confirmed.

"Nahi!!!!" anurag shouted " Aisa nahi ho sakta, Mr. Bajaj iss bacche ki baap nahi ho sakta, wo mujhse nahi jeet sakte, unko harna hi tha , haarna hi hoga" he said in anger.

"Anu?" Mrs. Basu questioned not understanding what her son is talking about, why was he blabbering about losing and winning.

"Haan, ye baccha Bajaj ki nahi ho sakta,wo jeet nahi sakta mujhse" he blabbered " wo sayad kisi aur ka baccha ho, Bajaj ki nahi, usko harna hi hai, haan yahi hai wo baccha kisi aur ka hoga"

Mrs. Basu and Nivedita was lloking at Anurag in shock. They never imagined that he would say something about Prerna like that someday.

"Anurag, tum kya keh rahe ho?" Nivedita questioned.

Anurag came out of his thoughts and saw his mother and sister were looking at him in shock. He realized what he had just revealed. Ignoring their questions he looked at them and said " Kuch nahi, mera saar thoda dard kar raha hai" and went to his room.

Mrs. Basu and Nivedita were confused by his behiour.

Prerna was still lost in her thoughts of Mr. Bajaj when she felt two tiny hands around her waist.

"Mammaa.." Kukki called her snapping her out of her thoughts "Aapko bohot missy kiya Kukki ne"

Prerna smiled at her daughter, flicking her nose she asked "Kitna missy kia Kukki ne mamma ko?"

"Itna saara" Kukki said spreading her hands wide as if to show she missed her so much

"Awww, mera baby" Prerna cooed "Mamma ne bhi aapko bohot missy kiya" and hugged her daughter.

"Ahhemm" Prerna looked up to see Mr.Bajaj clearing his throat "Kukki bohot zidd Kar rahi thi usko yaha kamre mein hi dinner karni hai" he said not meeting her eyes and looking around nervously.

Hiding her smile seeing his nervousness, Prerna said without any emotions " Haan thik hain, aap hamare khana yaha bhej dijiye"

Hurt flashed in his eyes for a second hearing her emotionless tone but he masked into his stoic expression again. His hopes were raised with the kissed but she slashed those again brutally.

Although he managed to hide his hurt, Prerna saw through him. She knew that he might have come to another conclusion hearing her tone of voice while she did that only to hide her shyness.

He turned to go and was almost at the door when he heard her soft voice " Aap apna khana bhi yaha hi lekar aajaye". He nodded and went to bring their dinner.

Through their dinner Prerna was stealing glances at Rishab while feeding Kukki, but he was listening animatedly to his daughter's blabbering ignorant of Prerna's stealing looks at him.

After the dinner, kukki declared in a no nonsense tone "Kukki ko aaj Mamma, Dada ke saath sona hai"

Shocked by his daughter's declaration Rishab looked wide eyed at Prerna but she shrugged.

"Kukki, woh....Actually....." he began but Prerna cut him in middle " Thik hai Kukki aaj aap hamare saath hi soyegi"

If Rishab was shocked by Kukki's Declaration to sleep with them then with Prerna's acceptance he thought that he was hearing things.

Kukki went to her room to bring her stuff toy and Prerna was making their bed to sleep when Rishab tried to talk to her "Prerna, woh......" Prerna looked at him.

"Prerna, woh main.....woh mein..." Prerna was amused by this man's nervousness, was this the same Rishab who used to scare people with his one glare.

Hiding her smile she said " aap woh mein hi aatke rahenge ya aage bhi kuch bolenge"

He scratched the back of his neck and again tried " woh kukki hamare saath..."

"kukki hamare bich mein soyegi, Mr. Bajaj.....aap itna kyun ghabra rahe hain" she asked

"woh mein kabhi aapke saath, I mean humne ek bed kabhi share nahi ki" he said

Prena kept her hand above his and said "Mein uncomfortable nahi hoon"

Rishab was surprised at how Prerna understood his turmoil, he nooded and smiled at her and went to the washroom to change for bed.

As the three of them settled at the bed, kukki in the middle and Prerna and Rishab on her other side, she held both their hands and kept them on her chest. Prerna and rishab looked at each other and then to kukki.

Both of them bend to kiss on either side of her cheeks. Prerna caressed kukki's hair and she drifted off to sleep feeling her mother's caresses. Prerna also felt her eyes drooping but Rishab was looking at both of his girls feeling blessed for his little family.

He felt contended and happy as it was the first time all three of them was sharing a bed together.

He looked at his girls sleeping peacefully and then kissed kukki's forehead.

Rishab then looked at Prerna and bend a liitle more without disturbing kukki and was about to kiss her forehead when Prerna opened her eyes wide.

Both got lost in each other, their breaths mingling as Rishab looked at her lips and then to her eyes as if to ask for permission to which she nodded.

He caressed her under her eye with his thumb and bend down taking her lips in a slow kiss.

He kissed her softly on her lips and then pecked her forehead whispering " Good night Prerna"

"Good night, Rishab" she said softly and pecked his cheeks.

He gave her his full blown smile which made her heart skip a beat.

Clasping her hand tightly he brought it to his lips and then kept both of their hands above Kukki.

Rishab had wanted to talk to her about the statistics of their relationship but then he thought that discussion can wait for tomorrow.

He saw Prerna drifting off to sleep, a smile playing on her lips and closed his eyes in peace not knowing when sleep took over him.

The aftermath of the incident was wrecked havoc in Anurag's heart while it was a blessing in disguise for Rishab and Prerna.
