Blair tapped her foot anxiously.

Her first day and she was already in detention, what would Max think?

"Could you stop that!" Her foot stopped immediately at the yell of familiar voice. She turned slowly and saw the same rude boy that bumped into her earlier.

"Sorry." She sheepishly apologized.

She began to click her pen.

Courtney turned to the boy, a feeling of familiarity washing over her, but sighed in defeat as she noticed the almost scowl on his face. The only person she has had a whole conversation with today was Blair and even she was to busy clicking a pen... Really fast.

Courtney's eyes widened at the pace Blair clicked the pen. "Whoa. How do you do that?" She asked, snapping Blair out of her speeding thoughts.

"What?" She asked in a daze. Courtney's gaze dropped to Blair's hands. Following Courtney's gaze Blair gasped immediately stopping.

"Times up." Principal Bowin said activating the Blair's flight or fight mode. Blair blotted out of the door leaving an oblivious Courtney to stare at the doorway in confusion.

Rick on the other hand, was not so oblivious. He saw exactly what happened and was deeply confused. 'How did she click that pen so fast?', He questioned, internally.

Luckily for Blair she didn't click the pen using her speed, she didn't raise any alarms, just a few questions.

She jogged as quickly as she could to the Chapel residence in deep hopes she would arrive there before Mr and Mrs Chapel would. To her surprise they haven't even considered coming home yet.

"Beth?" She called. "Mr and Mrs Chapel?" No reply.

The house was quiet, something she had never been accustomed to. Suddenly feeling a little homesick after only a day of being away from home she made the quick decision to run to Central City, leaving a strange cold draft flooding through the living room.

Beth, who sat in the living room waiting for Blair to return from detention, (Headphones keeping her company) looked around in confusion. "Did I leave the windows open?"

...............

"AHHAHH!" Max yelled, clutching his chest. "You gave me a heart attack!" He glared at the young girl that suddenly appeared by his side.

Blair giggled leaning forward to get a better few on what he was working on. She gasped at what she saw.

The same suit she saw when she accidentally traveled to the future. "This- This is the suit!" Blair yelled out pointing at the costume in excitement.

Max quickly swiped the suit up into his arms, making Blair frown.

"But-" She tried, but Max beat her to it.

"The suit was supposed to be a surprise." Max scolded. Blair huffed in annoyance and quickly sped the suit out of his arms.

"Hey!"

She ignored her Uncles protests and examined the suit.

It was mostly made up of red, with yellow on the sides, but the yellow also ran down the side of the right leg, in the shape of a lightning blot.

It was beautiful.

"Uncle Max..." She started. "This is... This is just wow."

Max smiled, proudly. "I knew you'd like it." Max reached down, over his lab station grabbing a full face mask/ helmet.

"Try it on."

Without hesitation Blair changed into the costume. "How do I look?" She smirked.

"Like the Flash." Blair's breath hitched at her Uncles statement. Max noticed this and frowned. "Your dad would be proud." Blair's gaze dropped to the floor.

"I don't want to be the Flash." Her words took Max by surprise. "Wh-"

"I don't want to be the Flash." Her words were cold, angry. "Blair-" she interrupted him once again.

"I don't deserve it." Max frowned. Her anger was getting to her, her obsession with ending the ISA becoming her only thought.

She was poisoning her connection to the speed force without even realizing it.

"Okay." Max finally sighed. "You don't have to be the Flash, but who-"

"I don't know..." She started, clenching and unclenching her jaw. She tried so hard not to let her anger consume her, but sometimes that anger becomes to much.

Shaking her head out of the negative thoughts, she shrugged trying to play the tension off with a light and playful tone. "Yet. I don't know yet." She released a robotic laugh, one that was very easy to notice, especially for Max.

He frowned upon hearing it. The kids been through so much, he understood why she was so angry. It just frustrated him because he felt it was his job to teach her how not to let her anger control her actions. He couldn't help, but think Garrick might've done a much better job.

Max cleared his throat for the same reason Blair shook her head. To pull himself out o
f the pitch black heap called negativity.

"Look. Maybe one day I'll be as awesome as my dad, but right now I just want to be me." Blair sighed, a weak smile gracing her face.

The room went into a tense silence. One that made lumps appear in both their throats. Both swallowed the silence, trying to rid the lump. Only for it to sink to their stomachs creating tight knots.

"I found a lead." Max suddenly blurted out before he could stop himself. "A lead?" Blair perked up, eyes sparking with hope. "Yeah..." Max trailed off, walking away. "Come on!" He called out.

Blair rushed to his side. She followed him out of the lab, toward a hidden room.

"Has this always been here?" She asked, eyes wide with confusion. "All your life." Max admitted.

The room was camouflaged discreetly as a wall. Blair almost hit herself at how oblivious she had been.

Max held his hand to the door, a screen appearing as soon as he did. It scanned his DNA, sliding open only to reveal interconnecting dark red strings hanging from wall to wall.

Blair's jaw dropped. "Wha..." She started. "What is this?" She ducked under the strings, examining where each one went.

Max didn't even know where to start. He began to open and close his mouth, figuring out the best way to tell Blair he had been withholding information about the Injustice Society Of America from her.

Blair watched him expectantly. "What's wrong Uncle Max?" Her voice sounded with concern.

Max furrowed his eyebrows together, seemingly in deep thought, before he finally decided to speak.

"There's something I need to tell you."
