Waking up to the suns kiss at the crack of dawn felt so satisfying. It always is. My legs are shivering slightly because the side of my bed sat next to a window where cool air engulfed it. The morning dew from outside was running down the sides of it's frame reminding me that fall is here. I sat up stretching my arms and back, knowing very well that I had awoken before anyone else in this family has. But I liked it like that. It was nice and quiet and I can get ready peacefully. I get up to head towards my closet when I trip on a dark mound, face-planting me into my carpeted floor.
Thank god it's carpeted.
"Ouch" I mumble, getting up to face the dark grey mound laying next to my bed.
It twitched from the noise and had pulled one of my shirts off the ground to place as a blanket over its shoulders.
"Hey" I said casually while slowly kicking at the mound. It stirred in its sleep. "Get up." I'm now getting ready to stomp on it.
"What?" He said yawning, finally sitting up. He quickly put up his arms up in defense before I was able to do it.
"What are you doing in my room?" I asked frowning.
He looked up at me rubbing his eyes and tried to move the long strands of his ruffled bangs that hovered over his eyes out of his face. He looks kinda cute while doing that, but I'd die before I'll ever tell him.
"Why can't I be in your room?" He smirked.
Wasting no time, I grabbed a pillow from my bed and started whacking him with it.
"Okay okay!" He took the pillow from me."It's because last night it was thundering hard. So I went to check up on you but fell asleep." He shrugged.
I grabbed back the pillow and started whacking at him again. "That's a lie! You know I'm not scared in the least of thunder. How many times have I told you never to come in my room!!" I kept whacking at him.
"Fine!" He said stopping me by clasping onto the pillow, firming the grip around my hands so that they won't move.
I could slightly feel my face blush pink.
"It was late and I couldn't find my phone so I thought to look in your room. Then when I crept in I heard one of our parents open their bedroom door. So I quickly closed the door to your room and search for my phone. Which I did find of course. It was on your dresser. You took it by accident after dinner. Anyways, I was in here and was about to head out, and you started stirring in your sleep! That's when I remembered the horrifying warning you gave me about being in your room." He fakes a shiver. "So then I hid next to your bed so you wouldn't see me. But the carpet felt nice and warm so I ended up falling asleep and here we are."
"But you still went to my room when I told you not to." I crossed my arms.
"And you still took my phone. But I'm heading out now, so we're even. Okay?" He ruffles my light brown curls before he walks out my room and into his, which is right next door. Then he comes out holding a few clothes and heads into the bathroom. I start to hear the shower turn on.
"Ughh" I groaned, before closing my bedroom door.
Jackson Faust is my stepbrother. He's 16, one year above me. Yeah he's annoying enough for a sibling, I already have another one of those. We argue back and forth constantly, but he's also oddly overprotective of me. Yeah, that could be considered "cute" sometimes but mostly it's annoying and just too much. He honestly doesn't let me do anything and scares off anyone I approach. I may seem unnecessarily spiteful, but that's because if he doesn't stop hovering over me all the damn time-
"Then I'll die alone!"
"What'd you say Sky?" Jackson opens a crack in my door and peeks his head inside. He had a tooth brush in his mouth, and a towel was wrapped around his neck. His wet hair had dripping water droplets that drew puddles in the hallway.
