The rabbit man was back. He danced for the kids when the metal creatures fell asleep, his movements so much more human than the rest of them. He had a voice like metal, grating and grinding that made them believe at times that maybe it wasn't a man inside the rabbit, but perhaps another robot. He sang to the kids, the same song, every day.

It hurts so bad. Mommy, please. It hurts!

The metal creature with the glass eyes learned of one more. A mangled fox with yellow eyes and battered fur. It's screams were the quietest of all of them, trapped in a back room in a pile.

Hello? Someone, please!

There were six of them in total, six sets of agonized voices that echoed off the walls of the building that housed the bright stages. Five other voices that he called out to, full of sorrow and pain. Where were they? He wished he could know.

Footsteps? Hello? Hello! PLEASE!

The metal creature decided to break free from the game he was trapped in. He mustered a step, joints creaking and gears turning as the foot of the bear moved forward, and he heard children scream, his glass eyes watching as they ran away, hands high over their heads.

Wait! Don't leave, please! I'm right here!

He didn't move again after that, not without a purpose. He just danced, danced, stuck in a circle of motions that he longed to break free from. The others did the same, and nothing changed. Tink. Tink. Tink. Tink.

It's me, Gabriel! I'm here!

Gabriel. That was his name, right? He couldn't be sure now that he was trapped in a metal body, but it seemed to echo in his ears. Gabriel. Gabriel. Gabriel.

It's me. It's me, Gabriel. Please.....

The metal beast knew the other's names now, and repeated them in his head. It was the only thing he had. Susy, Fritz, Jeremy, Charlie, Cassidy. Cassidy screamed the loudest. It hurt him to hear it.

Hello? Please.... I'm right here.....

Who was that? A woman stood in front of him, and he stared at her with his glass eyes. She seemed familiar, with her dark skin and shadowed face surrounded by soft black hair...

I'm here....

The woman was gone now, walking off again, little kids spilling into her place. Who was she? He wished she would come back, if only for a moment longer.

I'm here.....
