Chapter 3

'What the fuck just happened?' asked Jade. They were all in the cafeteria sitting around the centre table. Sapphire was wrapped up in a shock blanket and she seemed to have recovered at least a bit. Jett had broken into the bar and gave everyone shots of whiskey to steady their nerves. For a moment everyone was too stunned to reply.

'It's obvious isn't it,' said Sage. 'He was killed by the imposter.'

'I don't think there was any doubt about that moron. I meant... What kind of monster would do that to another human being? It was far beyond any kind of atrocity a human is capable of. He was ripped in half for fuck's sake,' said Jade.

'Clearly the imposters are people who will stop at nothing to achieve their goals,' said Scarlett.

'This is why I said we need to find them and kick them out of the airlock first,' said Jade. 'You idiots wanted to fix the damn ship first.'

'Alright. We didn't expect the imposter to take such extreme measures. No one expected actual murder, especially one as horrific as that,' said Grey. 'I agree that it's a priority now. Does anyone have any idea who might be the murderer?'

'You were acting pretty sus, Grey,' accused Jade. Grey's face turned pale in shock.

'You know wanting everyone to move around as fast as possible seems just like the kind of thing an imposter would want so that you can pick them off one by one. And you seemed in a hell of a hurry to get everyone moving,' said Jade.

'What the hell? I was in Navigation the entire time. I was nowhere near storage,' said Grey.

'Can you prove that?' asked Jade.

'Yes, I fucking can I can show you the courses I plotted. And Sage saw me coming out of Navigation when Sapphire screamed,' said Grey.

'That doesn't mean anything, you could have run there after killing Moss,' said Jade.

'Those damn charts take a while to plot, I'm not a superhero,' defended Grey.

'Not to add fuel to the fire here but, Grey is the only person who can pilot the ship. He could have been the one who threw it off course in the first place,' said Violet.

'I don't fucking believe this. Here I am trying to save all your sorry asses and I'm the one getting screwed?' asked Grey angrily.

'It's not Grey,' said Sapphire quietly. 'I was walking to electrical. The first time I passed through storage no one was there. But I saw Jade heading to storage. And the second time I went back to storage after finishing my tasks in electrical I saw the body.' Everyone turned to look at Jade after this.

'That's rich of you Jade. Throwing around accusations to divert attention from you being the last person in storage,' said Grey.

'I saw nothing in storage, I didn't even have things to do in storage I was just passing by to head to the cafeteria,' defended Jade. 'For all we know she could have done it herself and is pretending to be shocked.'

'Really?' asked Grey incredulously. 'That's your defense? Look at her you, you idiot. Do you think anyone can fake that kind of shock?'

'I think we have too little information to go on right now,' said Jett. 'This discussion is not productive in any way. We should get back to fixing the ship.'

'And do absolutely fuck all? One of our crewmates just died,' said Violet.

'I feel sad for Moss as much as any of you,' defended Jett. 'But we don't have much information to go on. I don't think we can guess who the imposter is right now.'
