Zak dragged his light suitcase behind him. His heart thumped loudly in his chest as he tippy-toed, and craned his neck to see over the people in the airport.

This was it. After all these years, this was finally it. There was still a sense of disbelief. Zak knew that he wouldn't be completely sure this was really happening untill he saw the muffins face for real. He took a deep breath and again; looked around the crowd of people.

Then, he spotted it. A patchy, bald head. "DARREL!" Zak yelled, suddenly, bursting through countless people, and tripping over luggage.

Darrel looked up, and his eyes brightened. His mouth immediately curled into a smile, and he opened his arms as he ran to Zak.

They ended up colliding into eachother in full force, and bumping backwards onto the ground. "Ah!" Zak and Darrel both cried at the same time. They paused, and looked up at eachother in cadence, before once again running into each other's arms giggling at the fall---albeit, this time they actually landed into hug.

"ZAKKKKK~" Darrel smiled, his cheeks hurting from grinning. "AHHH ITS REALLY YOUUU!!"

"BADDDDD! FINALLY GEEZ!" Zak wrapped his arms around Darrel's torso tight, realising how tall Darrel really was. His head only met Darrell's chin.

"Haha you're so short!" Darrell finally snorted, backing up to place his hand on Zak's head, patting down the fluffy black hair. "See, told you so."

"Well at least I'm not bald." Skeppy sputtered out, placing his hands on his hair as well. Darrell laughed and lifted his hands from Zak's head.

"Got me there."

They were practically glued by the hips from that point on, immediately clicking. "Zak, why don't we visit a bakery, my favorite one isn't far from here."

Zak smiled and nudged Darell's arm with the side if his head. "Why, are you asking me out on a date? And this soon, too? I just got here! We might as well move on to the crafting table-"

"IF YOU DONT WANNA GO, THEN WE DONT HAVE TO." Darrell huffed out, flustered. For the first time, Zak could see Darrell's pink face and hear the shakiness. It was a whole other level from a vc. He giggled and shook his head.

"Okay, sorry Bad. I'm actually really hungry, so let's go."

Darell rolled his eyes. "Uh huh, really~?"

"Yes." Zak announced, nodding his head. "Take me."

"Fine, just make sure you can keep up with your tiny legs." Darrell snickered, before speed-walking past Zak.

"HEY, WAIT UP! DONT BE SO MEAN, I SAID I WAS SORRY!" Zak laughed, clasping onto Darell's hand.

"Ugh come on, then."

"Okayy!" Zak smiled, nearly running in order to keep up with Darell. It was already so much more fun than he'd imagined. Darrell was Zak's only friend in a while, so he treasured this moment.

The place was quaint and cozy, with yellowish lights and cushiony seats. Gigantic book shelves lined the walls, and the floor was blanketed in a thick knit rug. "Ooh this place is actually pretty cool." Zak casually said, looking over the small paper menu.

"Yeah." Darrel nodded, fixing his glasses. "I come a lot. To clear my mind, from, you know, stuff... It's become almost a second home." His eyebrows furrowed for a moment, but he quickly shook his head and looked back up. "So, what're you getting? I'm personally ordering blueberry muffins. Did you know they bake em' with fresh blueberry's every morning?"

The pastries were given warm and fluffy, the mint tea steaming hot. Zak took this time to observe Darrell. He wore a green sweater, that looked wayy too comfy, and his face had the large dark circles under his eyes, almost cloaked by his smile.

Then again, it made sense coming from Bad. He was almost always up late and loopy from sleep deprivation. It kinda pained Zak to see the bags under his eyes though. It made it all more real and concerning.

He wouldn't bring it up. Zak's tried before. Every time he did, Bad would get audibly uncomfortable and dodge the question. It low-key hurt him a lot, seeing his friend suffer, and high-key frustrated him because Darrell wouldn't let him help. There's nothing he could do but watch in concern as his friend drowned in work.

"Whatcha looking at?" Darrell grinned, biting into his muffin.

Zak quickly looked down at his tea and shrugged, taking a sip out of panic. "Ah!" He hissed, dropping the cup. He'd burned his mouth on the tea. Embarrassed, Zak ripped off napkins from the little stand and wiped it up, using his other hand to cover his face. "Uh, sorry. The tea too was hot."

"Yeah I figured." Bad frowned, helping to wipe up the mess. "Are you hurt?"

Zak looked up. "Nah."

They continued to eat with simple small talk about where Bad lived and the best restaurants, when suddenly Darrell tapped Zak's shoulder, his eyes laced with concern. "Hey, Zak... Do you know them?" He discreetly pointed to a teen girl in an oversized dream hoodie and black fingerless gloves, and a pregnant mother.

He was almost about to shake his head no, when he spotted the glittering phone case in the girl's hand, and with closer inspection; a strip of died green hair.

"Oh, I think recognize the girl!" Zak announced, "She was in the same flight as me. She's a huge fan of us apparently, so this must be a hell of a coincidence."

"I should've expected this... Uh, Zak, It's not a coincidence." Darrell looked back down at his muffin seriously. "I think I saw them take a picture of us."

Zak paused and turned back around to glance at the girl, who still held up her large glittering phone case. "Oh, really?"

Fun fact: I drew the cover 😛
