Falcon got up immediately. He looked around, and called as loud as he could, waking Misty at the same time. She soon realized Raven was gone and helped her brother look. Falcon even tried to follow her scent, but aftre a little time it just faded away. He knew there was nothing he could do.
Then he remembered the words of Goldenheart...
"Hard times are up ahead, but you have to remain strong for your sister."
She hadn't meant Leaf-bare at all, she had tiold him his mother would go away. But WHY? He sank to the ground. For days he just lay there, slipping in and out of sleep. He no longer had the will to get up. Misty was beside him the whole time, begging him to get up and help her look. He didn't even respond.
Maybe I'll just stay here forever, he thought to himself. Goldenheart was forgotten. Whenever he woke he just gazed around bleary eyed, then fell asleep again. Deep inside him there was always a little hope that his mother would come back. But he knew she wouldn't come back. But then neither would he!
