Forgotten Realms

Chapter 1

It was the last day of school in eighth grade. Serena and the rest of the students were all fidgeting in their seats. "Ten seconds until school's out." Serena said. Everybody watched the clock intently, counting down. "Ten....nine...eight...seven...six...five...four...three...two...ONE!!!" Before the teacher could even say a word, half the class was out the door. "Serena." the teacher called. Serena slowly turned around, afraid,"What?" she said. "Could you please come here." She walked over quickly, eager to get out of that place."Um, your reading score is...low, so I would recommend that you read this book over the summer." Serena looked at the title, it was called 'The Forgotten Realms'. "Is it fantasy?" She asked. "Yes it is, it's quite magical actually." the teacher said with a lot of animation. Serena was not impressed but she didn't want to get in trouble so she said,"Oh, sounds good." She wasn't planning on reading it until she heard the next sentence. "Make sure you read it, you'll have to take a test on it next year." the teacher informed her. Crap. she thought to herself.

        Serena unpacked her locker and started home. The book seemed to kiddish for her, she did not want to read it. When she got home, she went up to her room. She sighed and plopped the book down on the bookshelf. It's summer, she told herself, there's no way I am reading that stupid book. Then she realized it, it's summer. No homework equals nothing to do after school which equals hanging out with friends. So she called her best friend to come over.

         Her name is Katelyn and lets just say she is a little insane in the brain but still fun. The phone was ringing and then she answered " Howdy friend ITS SUMMER!!!" Katelyn screamed " I know so whats the first thing on our list" asked Serena " Um I think its read" said Katelyn as if she was reading something. "WHAT" said Serena " I just got a stupid book do you want to read it for a laugh" " sure I'll be there in 5 seconds" Katelyn said before hanging up the phone. Five seconds later Serena heard a knock at the door, it was Katelyn. "come in" yelled Serena the door opened and in came Katelyn. they both ran up stairs and began to read The Forgotten Realms.

        Once they read one page they felt like someone was watching them. The book was about a world of magical creatures that used to live on earth with us but were sent away because no one believed in them. they were sent to a world called the forgotten realm and there they needed a queen so they volunteered two fairies. Ones name was Sagina and she was the fairy of light. the other's name was Sinaca, she was the fairy of darkness and she got jealous very quickly. So when her sister won Sinaca was furious and told her that she would get revenge. She took all the people who voted for her and went to a land called the remembrance, a dark place that was full of sorrow. It was called the Remembrance because the creatures appeared in nightmares every night.

        Sagina knew that Sinaca was going to try and take over the Forgotten Realms, then possibly the Earth. So she turned to an old prophecy. The prophecy told of two mortals that were destined to save the Forgotten Realms and bring them back to the Earth. She traveled to the Earth where she found two girls sleeping. She brought them to the Forgotten Realms, but on the way, one was lost and wandered into the Remembrance. Sagina could not go into the Remembrance, so it was up to the girl to save her friend and destroy the Remembrance.

        Serena and Katelyn closed the book. She couldn't believe that they had finished it in one day. It was really late, and Katelyn was falling asleep. "Something about that book...seems real. Like it actually happened." Serena said. "We're just tired. Plus, there's no such thing as fairies."Katelyn yawned then fell asleep. Serena couldn't shake the strange feeling that it was true. It can't be true. I'm just tired like Katelyn said. she told herself. She stared at the ceiling and eventually drifted off to sleep.

        Serena jumped out of bed, after hearing a loud noise, thinking that some one was breaking in. She tried to wake up Katelyn but Katelyn just waved a hand and hushed her then fell back asleep. Serena put on a brave face and went towards the door, along the way she quivered and thought to her self "i'm going to die" Then she heard a noise from behind her, she jumped and looked to see if Katelyn woke up. But she wasn't she was still as frozen as a stupid potato, drooling on her pillow . Serena turned back to the door and restarted were she left off. When she got to the door she barley opened it light spilled into the room revealing Katelyn still drooling. Serena thought "Its my mom getting a drink of water" Then she heard her name "Serena" The tone was soft but powerful at the same time it made Serena happy.

        Serena thought her mother caught her peeking around the corner so she started down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs, in the living room, stood a girl in a long gown. She wanted to scream but no sound came out. "Please, don't be afraid. Just listen." the girl said. Huge butterfly wings spread out behind the girl. Serena almost died of awe. "I am queen Sagina, I need your help." Her voice seemed to come back to her as Serena stuttered out,"Yeah right." She remembered the book that she and Katelyn had just finished. This isn't happening. She told herself. "Come to the forgotten realm with me, we need your help." she paused,"and Katelyn, she has to come or else it will all be in vain." The queen handed her a note with fancy writing on it. It had Katelyn and Serena's names on it. Serena was about to ask another question, but the next thing she knew, she was staring at the ceiling above her bed, and Katelyn was shaking her. It must've been a dream. she told yourself.

        Then she noticed the piece of paper in her hand.
