Just wanted to mention again, this story is a slow burn. Hope you guys like what I have so far :)

****************************************************************************

7:30PM couldn't have come fast enough. You grabbed your things and started walking across the parking lot towards your car. You liked to walk fast, because this wasn't a good area, and it didn't help that the Arizona State Hospital, which housed criminally insane people, was right next to your hospital.

You got into your car and started to drive home. You had a really busy day and you were exhausted. You started to think about him again. You didn't even know his first name. You knew absolutely nothing about him. In your head, you referred to him as "The Cop".  Was he married? Did he have girlfriend? You were sure that he must have had one of the two. The thought itself hurt. You couldn't help but feel pathetic. The chances of ever seeing him again were slim. Sure, cops were in and out of your ER, but you recognized most of their faces. In the two years that you had worked there, you had never seen him. He must be new.

You arrived home and stripped naked inside your garage. No way were you bringing anything from the hospital inside your home. You decided to go for a short jog even though you could think of 1000 excuses not to do so. It was already dark outside, but luckily your neighborhood was safe. You popped your AirPods in and played your favorite heavy metal playlist. After about 20 minutes you began to feel uneasy. You couldn't put your finger on it. You were jogging alone at a park by your house, but you didn't feel alone. Goosebumps began to form on your skin. You paused your music and tried to become aware of your surroundings. You couldn't see anybody. Too much Forensic Files and True Crime podcasts surely made you paranoid. That's exactly what was happening. In the distance was a picnic table, under a tree. The lighting wasn't good in that area. You could make out the silhouette of someone sitting on top of the table with their feet resting on the bench. The only thing you could really make out was a cigarette, burning red at the tip. It was only you and that person as far as the eye could see. You decided that was your hint to head home.

You were out of breath and covered in sweat, and to be quite honest, scared. You lived alone, and it usually didn't bother your, but tonight it did. As you walked up to your front door, you couldn't help but notice that your front door mat was crooked. Almost as if someone had moved it. You tried not to make it a big deal, but deep down it scared you even more.

You showered for the second time that day, now really feeling exhausted. You ate your dinner and couldn't stop thinking about the cop. His hair and his beautiful eyes. You felt lonely and horny. You started to think of what it would be like to make him cum. Or even better, what he could do to make you cum. You could easily dial a number, and have someone over in the next 20 minutes. You didn't have any shortage of men that would be willing to fuck you. Men will fuck anything with a pulse. The problem was that nobody interested you. Well now somebody did, but it was stupid because this person probably forgot all about you already. Yet here you were, unable to focus on anything else. You felt truly pathetic.

Weeks passed, and not a day went by that you didn't remember him. Your brief meaningless interaction, replayed in your head every single day. You had even been so desperate as to search his last name on every social media account you had, and nothing. You still didn't know his first name. He consumed your thoughts. Those eyes were burned into your mind. You decided to try to stop thinking of him.

Your life went on like normal, with the exception of small mishaps. Sometimes a blocked number would call your phone late at night, with no answer. Or things would be misplaced in your house, or you couldn't find certain pairs of panties. They were so insignificant, you hardly picked up on them.

Work was so repetitive, but it helped to keep you busy, even for a few hours. You had even started picking up a night shift here and there. Tonight you worked 7pm-3am. It was a shorter shift so you didn't mind. An ambulance came and brought in a patient that was drunk and being belligerent. Your favorite. EMS gave you report.

"This is a 56 year old male that was found outside of Circle K yelling at people and being aggressive. The police were called and he tried to swing at one of the officers, so now he's also in police custody. He just needs medical clearance from here so they can take him to jail. He's states he's had a lot to drink today and isn't really compliant with answering any other questions"

"Okay, well then. It looks like I'm in a for a fun night." You joked as you signed the paper accepting the patient into your care.

A police officer made his way into the room and greeted you. You offered him a chair since you knew he would also be here a while. You wanted him so badly to be someone else.

You proceeded to get an assessment from the patient, which was difficult because he was so drunk. He wasn't being belligerent or aggressive like the EMS personnel had stated. You started and IV and hung fluids to try and sober him up. It would take hours surely.

At around 10 pm, the officer informed you that his shift was almost over and that another officer would be taking over. He stated that his replacement was outside and that they would switch.

"Have a good night" you said to him and he made his way out of the room.

Your patient was asleep and really had not been a problem, which rarely ever happened with intoxicated patients.

"Hey y/n, can you reassess him while you're in there? See if he's more sober now, so we can discharge him and get him out of here." Shouted your ER doc from his desk.

You began to gently try to arouse the patient, and it didn't take much for him to open his eyes and ask where he was. You reoriented him to the time and place.

"You're in the hospital, you drank a lot tonight and you were in an altercation with PD. How are you feeling now?" You asked him.

"I feel like shit. Can I have some water?" He whined

You couldn't help but want to roll your eyes.

"Yeah sure." You said as you turned your back to him to get the water.

You looked up and there he was. The man you had not been able to stop thinking of. He was a lot taller than you remembered, and God your memory of him had not done him any justice. You froze and your heart wanted to jump out of your chest. He looked at you with those piercing black eyes, with that same serious expression from the first day you laid eyes on him. He was gauging your reaction. Your excitement was short lived when you felt someone grab your hair and wrap their arm around your neck

You screamed as you realized your patient was putting you in a choke hold. You felt his fist hit your face repeatedly.

"GET THE FUCK OFF OF HER!" You heard the cop scream as he drew his gun and aimed it at the patient.

"I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD I WILL FUCKING SHOOT YOU IN THIS HOSPITAL, IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. GET YOUR FUCKING HANDS OFF OF HER!" He screamed even louder.

The patient laughed and put his forearm across your forehead, forcing you to make eye contact with the cop that was trying to save your life. He still had his gun pointed in your direction. His eyes were filled with rage and fury. His expression and breathing looked animalistic.

The patient laughed, "Alright here's your little bitch."

He forcefully kissed your temple and then threw you at the cop's feet. The cop lunged at the patient and tackled him on the stretcher. You saw him start to punch the man uncontrollably. Within seconds, 10 cops piled into the room and pinned the man down.

Your co-workers dragged you away from the room and placed you in another room where you were away from all the screaming and fighting. You were in shock.

"What the fuck just happened!" You yelled as you started to sob uncontrollably. Your co-workers consoled you as best they could.

"You're okay, everything is okay. You're safe." They assured you as they tried to calm you down, but nothing would work.

You were coming undone, your heart longed for that stranger's touch and reassurance. The one from the man that you had thought about non stop since you laid eyes on him, the one from the man who had just saved your life.
