(Y/N) was waiting outside the Pokémon school for Lillie. While she waited, she decided to take Umbreon out of its pokéball to keep her company. Umbreon came out and automatically started walking in circles around her, caressing its head against (Y/N)'s leg. (Y/N) only smiled at her Pokémon partner and started wondering what was taking Lillie so long.
When Lillie finally arrived, (Y/N) sort of expected Gladion to be with her, but he was nowhere to be found. She brushed off the thought, embarrassed by her eagerness to see a total stranger again. Still, she was mad at him for what happened during class. After all, (Y/N) was a sore loser.
— "Hey, sorry for being late. I had to take some things to my locker before leaving." — Lillie told her, while smiling apologetically. — "What do you need to buy? I'll show you all the best stores I know, promise!".
(Y/N) smiled, she liked Lillie's kind and calm nature. She took out a list of things to buy for her house and showed It to Lillie. Her friend newfound friend took the list and looked through it in a matter of seconds and smiled.
— "I know just the place for this." — Lillie took the list and started walking. — "Let's go! The shopping district is this way." — And with that she continued to walk, signalling (Y/N) to follow her.
While walking, Lillie started asking (Y/N) about all her favourite things, probably to get to know her style and help her with the shopping list. Or maybe out of curiosity. To hell if (Y/N) knew.
When they finally arrived, Lillie led (Y/N) to a massive store right in the middle of the mall. This store had everything, just what (Y/N) needed for her closet. Her old clothes from Galar were all meant for cold weather and she was getting tired of sweating her ass off every waking moment of her time in Alola. She definitely needed more suitable clothes for the tropical weather. She also needed to buy some things to finish decorating her house, but that would come after since some of the furniture was really heavy.
Lillie and (Y/N) spent hours looking at clothes and finding things that would fit (Y/N)'s style and figure. (Y/N) was actually having fun spending time with Lillie. She was not one to make friends, but she seriously thought about considering Lillie her friend. While picking clothes, she realised how much she actually missed having someone to talk to. Someone to go out with and goof around. She felt kind of lonely this past couple of days not having someone to talk to. She wondered if Lillie thought of her as a friend too. After all, she was here because professor Kukui asked her to.
When they were done shopping for clothes they moved on to decorations and furniture. There was one special thing (Y/N) really wanted to buy for her house. A piano. There was a tiny space in her room looking out the window, which she considered perfect for a vertical piano.
They spent hours shopping that day. When the shopping spree was finally over, Lillie stopped outside of the store and took out her phone.
— "Why did we stop here?" — (Y/N) asked, not knowing why they weren't going to drop the stuff at her place.
— "Well you bought a piano; we need help moving it." — Lillie said, while still focused on her phone.
— "Oh." — (Y/N) felt like an idiot for not realising that sooner. How were 2 teenagers supposed to move a piano all by themselves? But who was going to help them?
Lillie said nothing after sending the text message and sat around the store, waiting for whoever was coming to help. (Y/N) decided to sit next to her and wait. They started talking again and in no time, a big car stopped right in front of them and out came Gladion. (Y/N)'s heart skipped a beat and she started feeling a bit nervous. Gladion seemed unfazed by her presence, which made her sulk a little.
Lillie got up and gestured for her to get on the car. (Y/N) quietly followed her in and they waited while Gladion and what seemed to be a butler loaded everything on the back. There was a small cart attached to the limousine where the furniture was being loaded as well, since it didn't fit in the trunk. After a few minutes, the door on (Y/N)'s side opened, startling her, and Gladion got in the car with them. (Y/N) glared at Gladion for scaring him, but once again, he did not care for her existence at all.
(Y/N) gave Lillie her address, a bit uncomfortable with the fact people would know where she lives, but she needed help moving stuff inside so she sucked it up and waited patiently, staring out the window.
The car ride was quiet and peaceful. Gladion noticed (Y/N)'s hands playing with something around her neck. He took a closer look and saw she was holding on to a golden necklace with a moon pendant. (Y/N) seemed to be deep in thought and didn't notice Gladion staring at her. He noticed how she furrowed her brows and instinctively held the necklace on her hands a bit tighter. Gladion said nothing and looked away, thinking it was none of his business.
Lillie felt a bit uncomfortable and decided to interrogate (Y/N) a bit more.
— "So...(Y/N), how did you decide you wanted an Umbreon?" — Lillie asked.
— "Huh?" — (Y/N) was dragged out of her thoughts and a bit confused by Lillie's sudden question.
— "There's a lot of eeveelutions, why did you choose Umbreon?" — Lillie insisted. (Y/N) thought for a second before answering.
— "I didn't. Umbreon chose himself." — (Y/N) stated simply and continued staring out the window.
— "How exactly did it choose to evolve into Umbreon?" — This time Gladion talked. (Y/N) was surprised to hear him join in on the conversation but didn't let it show.
— "We trained hard and studied all the different methods to evolve eevee, and I simply showed him the options and let him be himself. I didn't want to make him evolve into something he didn't want to be. His happiness comes first after all." — (Y/N) replied. Gladion seemed interested. Even if he wasn't one to express his feelings, he cared deeply for Pokémon and had a newfound respect for (Y/N) knowing they had that in common.
When they arrived at (Y/N)'s place Gladion started taking things out of the car while (Y/N) opened the door to her house.
They all started unloading the car and putting everything inside. Gladion and...what was the butler's name?
— "Umm, Lillie?".
— "Yes?" — Lillie turned around with a bag of clothes in her hand and looked at (Y/N).
— "Who is the man helping us? Is he...is he your dad?" — Both Lillie and Gladion laughed at this and (Y/N)'s face was a tomato's worthy opponent.
— "This is Hobbes, he's the butler and a close friend of our family." — Lillie replied while Gladion and Hobbes continued carrying the piano inside.
Once they were all inside, they all helped put everything in its place, which (Y/N) appreciated deeply. If they had left her to do everything on her own it would've taken a month for everything to be in its place.
— "Do you live here by yourself?" — Lillie asked, noticing how there was only one bedroom in the whole place. (Y/N) grimaced. She didn't like being reminded that she was all alone.
— "...yes." — She said simply and turned away from Lillie.
Lillie didn't notice but Gladion saw how she held on to the moon necklace once again. He felt curious but knew better than to ask about it. Some things are better left unsaid.
After everything was in its place, Gladion and Lillie said their goodbyes...or more like Lillie did. Gladion, as usual, just kept to himself and paid no attention to (Y/N), who wanted to hit him in the face with a brick.
As soon as they left, (Y/N) threw herself in the bed and instantly fell asleep, dreaming about the past.
