Heading Back: Part 9

The lights that surrounded the pathways were dimly lit. Fog was beginning to emerge from the sides as the air turned rather chilly, making the whole scene seem like a hazy dream. We were all following the lights as guidance, hoping that it will lead us to the Go Karting station. The familiar and loud shrieks of excitement maximised. Cameron was walking close beside me the whole time. His arms touching mine each time he comes a little closer.

"You alright there?" He glanced down at me.

I tilted my head up, only to be mesmerised by his strong, charming glance. The way his eyes sparkle under the dim lighting was too beautiful for words. The outline of his face seemed as if it was drawn by a professional artist, each detail being so perfect.

"Y-yeah. I'm okay. You?" I responded.

"As long as I'm close with you, I'm okay." He said, eyes not loosing contact with mine.

"Cameron."

"Hmm?"

"Those words doesn't sound like you. Not to a fan." I said, a small giggle escaping from my mouth.

He shook his head a little and focused his glance to the path in front of him. "I don't know...when I look at you, there's this...spark." He said slowly and carefully.

"Wow. I thought that only happens in movies. I didn't know in reality..."

"Yeah, crazy huh?" I just smiled. I mean, what else can I do?

"Wait, wait." He stopped my footsteps and lowered his back.

"Cameron what are you doing?" I asked in surprise.

"Hop onto my back." He pointed to his back.

"WHAT, Cameron I really think you've gone way past your limits. Do you have a fever or something...?" I placed my cold hands onto his warm forehead.

The temperature seemed fine. Still, he convinced me to climb onto his back.

"I wanna give you a piggy back ride."

"Why?"

"Cause you're-"

"Okay, enough with the Augustus impression. I'll do it." I interrupted him in mid-sentence.

He laughed and I climbed onto his back. My hands settled on his shoulders and wrapped loosely around his neck. His hands supported my legs just below the knees. He turned back and checked if I was okay. My hands shuffled through his hair as he carried me. We were walking alone under the yellow streetlights. Jack and the guys have arrived and they were waving at us from afar.

"Hurry up guys! The karts are running out!"

"Okay okay" shouted Cameron. Instead of walking, he started running towards the Go Karting station. I got down from his back and saw Nash looking at me with that smirk.

"His idea. Not mine." I said with both hands up, as if I was surrendering.

We got into the arena and chose our karts. Helmets on, seat belts buckled. Cameron's kart was far from mine, so we didn't really have the chance to talk. But I figured we've talked enough back there.

"Bro, this is so cool." Nash pushed Cameron on the arm, which he responded with his cheesy laugh. The next second we were racing each other. Nash a few feet ahead of me, Jack G beside me, Matt's laughter coming from behind me, Carter catching up to Nash and Cameron in the front. The Karts hit the sides of the lane several times, but that didn't stop us from having the best time of our lives. After all of us have crossed the finish line, we agreed it was time to head back to the hotel.

I barely had any energy left in me as we all squeezed into the elevator.

10:05pm.

I called Bailey twice in the elevator, but she wasn't answering. I reckon they'd still be in the hotel room, probably packing up their makeup. Cameron's arm was around my shoulders, hugging me close to him while I was still attempting to make the call. He smiled at me but I could only smile nervously. Hell yeah I had fun but now I'm worrying whether my friends are still in the hotel. I was so stupid to just leave like that. Yes, I said I was going to school, but the fact that I was at Six Flags all this time was really bugging me.

His fingers stroked my cheeks and his breath whispered into my ears, "I had so much fun with you today."

I turned to look at him and placed my hand on the side of his face. I smiled, well at least tried to look natural, not a person who has just secretly went out with a super good-looking guy when she's supposed to finish up her project--

"Hello?"
