Recap: Spencer got arrested in Mexico. He claims cat framed him.

"But shes in jail spencer. That's virtually impossible." You looked at him confused.

"Whos to say she didn't have a helper? I'm telling you it was her. But I'm missing time. I need it back y/n. You know that doesn't happen." His eyes were sad. Remorseful.

"What were you doing down here anyway?" The question burning the back of your head the whole way. "And why did you have drugs in the car Spencer? Running from the cops? Spence." Your tone harsher than you intended.

"I wasn't running from the cops. I was chasing someone and I didn't know there was drugs in the car. Come on, you know me better than this."

"Why Spence. Why were you here in the first place?" Your voice cracking, tears welling up in your eyes.

Spencer looked down at his hands, sighing before he spoke, "Nadie wrote an article about an experimental treatment for Alzheimers. I called her and she said I had to come to Mexico, so I left my gun and my badge at head quartes to sneak down here. This treatment isn't available there. My mother is dying and I thought this would fix her." Tears started rolling down his face as he spoke. Your chest tightening at his words.

"Spencer." You choked out "Why didn't you let me help you. We wouldn't be here if, if you let me help." Spencers eyes filled with pain, knowing he hurt you.

Spencers POV

He didn't mean to hurt her. Seeing her cry in front of him because of his actions, kills him.

"My mother isn't your worry, y/n."

"But I love you and every single, little fucking fucked up piece of your life. You promised we would do this together. Together Reid." His last name foreign on in his ears. She never called him by his last name. "that's what people who love each other do. We don't lie and sneak Spencer." Her sadness turning into anger as she slammed her hand on the table, causing Spencer to jump.

"I WOULD'VE FUCKING HELPED YOU SPENCER." She was screaming at him. Spencer knew he deserved it. His brain going a million miles a minute.

"CATS IN FUCKING JAIL. HOW COULD SHE POSSIBLY DO THIS? HUH?" Her words slicing him like a knife.

"I already told you that she has to be working with a partner on the outside. Someone we missed that night. Please y/n. Help me find the missing time." Spencer pleaded.

Her eyes searched his, looking for something, anything. "Emily will be in to do your conative interview." She said standing, causing the chair to screech across the floor under her.

"Y/N. Wait. Please don't leave me alone babydoll. I- I need you." His eyes downcast on the floor.

"Like I said, Emily will be right in." She said softly as she walked out the door.

Spencer was alone with his thoughts. He deserved this.

He lied to everyone and should've asked for help, but it was too late for that now. It was up to Emily to help him find the missing time. He swore he'd make it up to her later, he just wasn't sure how yet.

Your pov:

You left him alone after you ranted about doing this together. But he deserved it. Did he? He lied to everyone. He made the choice. He did this.

As you closed the door the tears started again. You walked to the little breakroom where Hotch and Rossi sat, reading the case file. Their heads lifting when they saw you.

"How is he?" Hotch asked with concern laced in his voice.

"He says he is missing time. He doesn't remember much. He ah, he he says Cat did it." You huffed running your hands through your hair.

"Shes in prison?" Emily pointed out.

You just nodded. "She probably has a partner. I don't know."

"That would make sense. I'll get Garcia." Rossi reached in his pocket to grab his phone, stepping away to have her get the new information.

"I'm going to go do the cognitive. Do you want to sit in?" Emily asked you.

You weighed the options in your head. You wanted to be there for him, but the pain of his lies ripped through you. You're heart physically hurt.

"No." Was all you could muster. You wrapped your arms around your torso, as if trying to hide yourself. Emily furrowed her brows at you, looking confused.

You sat down next to Hotch. You couldn't cry anymore. All you could do was sniffle. Your body shook from anxiety, your chest feeling like it weighed 700 tons. You felt like you were suffocating, or going to throw up, or both. Hotch looked over at you, "its going to be okay y/n. I promise."

You shook your head at him before saying, "you cant promise shit Hotch. A woman is dead and Spencer was with her. Then he ran from the fucking police while high on, god knows what, with fucking drugs in the trunk. So you cant fucking promise me SHIT."

You didn't mean to be so harsh but you also weren't wrong. Spencer was fucked unless we can prove he didn't kill her. The only thing going his way was the absence of a murder weapon.

You ran your hands over your face, running your hands through your hair before speaking to Hotch again, "I- I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be that harsh. I just-" you took a deep breath, "I just don't understand why he lied to us. He wont make it in jail, Hotch. He wont. He's to smart for jail. They will eat him alive."

Hotch pulled your small frame into a hug, "I know y/n. I know. I'll do everything in my power to keep him out of prison. Lets hope Emily get something useful." His voice shook as he spoke. He hugged you tighter, rubbing your hair. He was acting like the father you never had but so desperately needed in that moment.

Spencer needs to get through this.
