Sneak peek at a new story

here's a sneak peek at a new story I'm going to be working on because The Cost Of Power, as much as I love it, is getting boring. So here is a sneak peek at a part of the first chapter to The Imbetween! And yes I know I put myself in the story but shushhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm sad and lonely and it's my AU (well not really because this takes place in between universes but shut up) so I can do what I want.

The Inbetween residents and laws of reality

The Inbetween is the existing plane between dimensions. It is highly unstable and prone to "updates". What makes the Inbetween special is the fact that once an individual has been there they seem to continue aging in their dimension but to revert to the same age as to when they first visited the Inbetween. I.e. if someone were to leave their home dimension (we'll call it V8-A) at the age of 22 and went to the Inbetween then left back to V8-A for another 50 years then came back to the Inbetween they'd be 22 again. It seems that this ageing set point is immediate and does not matter on how long the persons have been in the area.

"Updates", as the residents of the Inbetween have labeled them, seem to either add or delete items, entities, materials and even the visual qualities of physical matter. In some documented cases the peoples of this plane of existence have recorded holding an item and it either disappeared or its changing in texture. A quote from one of the residents there who has opted for the code name Dream:

"Yeah, I was bridging in the Nether when all of a sudden the cobble in my hands changed texture and became a different shade of gray. It was my first 'update' experience and needless to say I was so shocked I dropped the cobble and ran back to the portal. Don't worry though; you'll get used to it eventually."

Dream proceeded to eat an entire loaf of bread in a mere 7 seconds. It was... startling to say the least.

Some of the residents have decided that they will use code names for the time being seeing as some of them don't trust my research team. It's sort of silly seeing as we've done nothing so far to incite any reason for fear and distrust. The residents in question are as follows:

Dream- A 6'3 male with dirty blond hair and green eyes. He is seen wearing a neon green hoodie, ripped black jeans, black fingerless gloves, and a white mask with a poorly drawn smiley face.

George NotFound- A 5'9 male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is seen wearing a blue shirt with a white rectangle inside a red rectangle and a pair of clout goggles. He claimed to be colorblind so I had one of my engineers modify his glasses after we gave him a few tests.

SapNap- A 5'8 male with black hair and gray eyes. He is seen wearing a white shirt with a flame printed on it over a black turtleneck sweater with black Adidas pants with a white stripe and checkered shoes. He also wears a white bandana around his forehead.

Skeppy- I have not met him in person but he is said to have tan skin, deep brown hair with a teal streak, one brown eye and one eye supposedly made out of diamond. His right eye is said to be made of and surrounded by diamonds.

Badboyhalo- He is said to have half brown and black hair with the entirety of his right side engulfed in black skin. His right eye is a glowing, white light in the pitch of the surrounding skin. He seems to have a horn sprouting from the black skin along with one feathered wing on his left side and one leathered wing on his right along with a devil's tail all seemingly made of the same light as his eye. He is seen wearing a black hoodie with a red border and black pants with a red stripe with black shoes.

Wilbur Soot- A 6'5 male with brown hair and brown eyes. He changes his clothes often but seems to opt for sweaters with beanies, jeans and black converse. He likes sitting in the nearby meadow and playing guitar. I think Dr. Murrda described his looks best "He looks like the living embodiment of the word aesthetic. "

TommyInnit- None of the researchers have met him yet but the other residents have described him to have blond hair and blue eyes along with a childish personality. He is described to wear a white tee-shirt with short red sleeves over long white leaves and khakis with white tennis shoes.

Tubbo- A 5'5 male with brown hair and blue eyes. He wears a green tee-shirt with jeans and black shoes. He seems to have a fondness for the local bees and even has one that hovers by his head at almost all times.

Buttercream Biscuits- A 5'4 female with brown hair worn up in a short ponytail with one brown eye and one white eye. She is seen wearing an opaque black visor, big circle frame black glasses, gladiator sandals, brown leather gloves, and a black overall dress over a white shoulder less tee-shirt. The pupil in her right eye seems to be made of 5 hearts. She also has 3 black hearts on each cheek on her face and her ears seem to be folded in at the top giving her sears the appearance of an elves.
