I don't remember what It looked like to be ruled by us, Humans. I was five years old when the war ended and Werewolves won. The only thing I remember from those years is a constant fear.

We were hidden in the basement with other women and children. Mothers worried about the food they had to find for their children and whether their husbands would come back alive. We had to stay as quiet as possible, even talking with gestures, because of the werewolves' hearing.

In that time, humans didn't know much about the supernatural abilities of werewolves. It all happened so fast. One day we woke up and saw police and army scattered around the country and borders got closed. A few weeks later The government announced the shocking news,

Werewolves exist.

My father never came back from the war. His body was never found. I didn't understand his absence till a few years later when I was always in the need of a dad. My mother tried her best to stay strong, to fulfil that role for me, But I guess It never worked for me. We never talked about him. It was too hard for my mom and I always felt that empty space in my heart.

Werewolves ruled like animals or I better say Dogs. Rules were the rules of Jungle,

The weak suffer and serve the stronger, if not It must be eliminated.

Some lucky humans escaped to the Freelands in the first of their reign. Freelands were far away from the country and no werewolf put their feet there. It was the only thing we knew. We didn't know the reason. What mattered was that no one could escape to those lands anymore. Those who tried, were slaughtered by werewolves and their heads were on the gates for all humans to see and learn.

Werewolves had an Alpha who was like their king, the one whose word was the final decision on everything and a Betta who was the second in common and Alpha's right hand. Sometimes they had two bettas. This was the basic information we knew.

Respect was the first rule. We had to respect any werewolf we saw by bowing and stopping in our track. We must not look at their eyes directly and talk unless they give permission. It was absolutely hard to do so especially with the amount of guards always roaming around, so it had become a routine for us to always keep our head down and be quiet and walk slowly around them.

As the order of Alpha, Humans were all placed in the old abounded buildings like hospitals, asylums and orphanages which even humans didn't use before. Men and boys worked at the farms like machines as werewolves expected them. Females were supposed to clean streets and their public buildings like schools and hospital. They also had to work in factories making uniforms, boxes....

I was placed at an asylum with my mom. We were eight people sleeping on the floor in a small room which was made for one person. My mom tried to stay strong only for me. I remember her conversations with other mothers regarding to us, young children. They were willing to do anything to send us out of here to Freelands but as the time went on, they all became quiet. They didn't want to see their children's heads on the gate. So they all just tried to teach us this is not right. We are not supposed to serve them and we must not let them drill this in our minds that we are weaker than them. But even this thought vanished soon when we realized no one's gonna save us.

My mom went to the main sector for cleaning, the lands where werewolves lived, while I spent my time with other children at the factory. Three days in a week we had classes with werewolf teachers who taught us they are superior and us, humans, are basically born to serve them. This is the only purpose of our life. We had to learn about their culture and values and respect. We just learned writing and reading in the simplest way and weren't allowed to practice more or even have any sort of book.

This was the new world.
