As they arrived at the Christmas party Knight thought to himself, "She's actually got a few friends who seem cool enough. I bet if I got to know them better we would get along great."

Yet as he walked in the beast's coils wrapped tightly around him. He wanted to go start a conversation with one of his girlfriend's friends, but the tentacles held him back. "They really don't even want you and her dating" the darkness whispered. He sat in silence wishing he could reach out, but the tentacles were too strong.

The darkness was in the driver's seat. "Maybe if they will just come talk to me first it will be enough to break out of these tentacles" he wondered.

"Your friends wouldn't even reach out to me!" Knight screamed at his ex. He and his ex battled on in the depths of the cave going deeper and deeper. It was a continuation of the same argument they had the night they broke up after her friend's Christmas party.

"This was 6 years ago" he thought.

"What the heck am I doing." He realized he had been arguing with one of The Darkness's demons again. He quickly clicked off of facebook and tried to go back to his work.

He was so behind. Yet as he tried to work he kept hearing the screaming of his ex. His ex was never actually that hostile. Yet the demon in the guise of her could be so convincing. Knight just kept marching down the steps of the cave. He wasn't sure why. Momentum and the tentacles just keep taking him further.

It was 3pm when Knight's boss came storming into his office. "Have you not read any of the emails I sent you today!? I need you to hurry up and get me what I was asking for before Monday!" "Oh! Yea. Sorry I had planned to respond, but got caught up in in some other stuff. But, yea! I am already working on what you asked for. Almost done."

He hadn't opened up his emails all day. Knight began running down the steps of the cave. "I can't fight the darkness and whatever it is I'm supposed to get done" he thought.

He knew it would only get worse if he didn't start fighting the darkness and taking care of work. He had been down this road before. The last time the darkness took him over he skipped class for two straight weeks. That was the small comfort of being imprisoned down in the dungeons. He could be shielded from all the problems outside of the cave. He knew the the problems of the outside world would be bigger if he waited, but who cared so long as he can come sleep in his cell at the bottom of the cave.

"Maybe I will let the darkness have control for a bit. I'll clean up his mess later" he thought as he began to run even faster down the steps of the cave. He could feel the darkness was near. Two more tentacles reached out and grabbed his wrists as he ran. I will deal with all this on Monday. It's almost the weekend. How much damage can this beast cause me if I only give him control for a couple days?"
