It seemed as I'd been asleep for hours, though they reassured me it had only been two. I had escaped district eleven but had been condemned to death. The other tribute from my district was Thresh. Strong, tall, intelligent, he could easily win the games. He is the complete opposite of me.

The train ride to the Capitol seemed like only yesterday. Now here I am seconds away from my almost certain death. So many times before I have wished for death, rather than starving, cold and worthless in district eleven .

But not now.
Not trapped in this tube. I feel like I have been waiting here for about an hour, even though I know it couldn't be anymore than three minutes.

Wait. What was that? I can feel the floor moving, this is it. I can see the sky above me, the cornucopia, grass and trees. Trees! This is what I had been hoping for, maybe now I have a chance. Then I see her : The girl on fire, Katniss. How will I survive against her?

Before I knew it...

I ran quickly towards a small backpack near my podium and headed straight for the woods. Cornucopia was too risky, I could hear the screams already. The clash of metals but as I got further in to the woods all I could hear we're birds. I felt at home.
