Silent Screams

**THE DUSKY HUES**

We've been walking hand in hand on the sidewalks of this city. As the morning turned to noon and silently the colours of the sky shifted from blue and gold to hints of pink and red, the birds seem to be coming home to rest. You take me to a beautiful meadow as the Sun starts to hide behind the clouds and the sky is blushing like pink diamonds on a shy bride. You look into my eyes with such passion that if lights up the small fire of love that lay dormant in my heart for so long. It isn't the kind of passion that needs the physical touch of lust but the kind that heals even the most painful of open wounds. I can feel your eyes, swimming in the depths of my soul, searching for answers that you know I shall never let escape from my lips.

You sense a little change in the air as the breeze has picked up its pace. Your arms wrap me in a protective and warm hug that reminds me of my favorite blanket being tucked around me on a cold winter's night. Your deep gaze terrifies me and I avert my eyes in pain of all those secrets that I have left unsaid. You see, my love, I fear losing you to the phantoms of my past. Even the slightest touch of your finger under my chin sends chills down my spine and I look up at you in a daze that one feels when the mind battles with the heart for mastery over the symphony of souls. "Look at me, my love!", you say, your warm breath against my cold skin. I stare into those twin universes of vast possibilities of love, happiness and a modern fairytale as together we gaze up towards the changing hues of a dusky sky.

You hold me tighter, closer than ever and whisper into my ear, "Your past was a whirl of storms and they might have left you bent, but not broken. Storms aren't permanent you see. But my love for you shall forever be like the dusky hues of the sky. My darling, I am here to stay like the eternal dusk if you will have me."
