"I can't believe Snape has made us do dancing lessons for five days in a row now." Pansy said exhaustedly as she flopped onto her bed.

"At least we'll be good at it." I laughed. "The ball should be really fun." I continued.

"I hope it is. We got to worry about getting dates though." She sighed

"Oh...right...yeah...dates." I sighed sadly.

I noticed Pansy quickly sat up in her bed. She was eyeing me carefully. "You're upset that you won't be able to go with Cedric, aren't you?"

I sighed loudly and looked down at the floor, avoiding her eyes that were studying my face.

"It's his loss, you know?" She spoke again.

I shrugged my shoulder in response. "It will suck seeing him and Cho together as each other's dates."

"How do you know he will bring Cho?" She asked, obviously trying to make me feel better.

I rolled my eyes at her. "Who else would he bring?"

"Well... he could..." Pansy said stuttering.

"Exactly." I interrupted bluntly.

Pansy pressed her lips into a hard line. She knew her attempt to make me feel better had failed.

"We should probably go to bed, I would say Snape will have us dancing again tomorrow." I said quietly.

Pansy didn't respond, but I knew she agreed with me. We were both absolutely exhausted.

The next day, to nobody's surprise, Snape had summoned us into the Great Hall to practice our dancing. I partnered up with Draco again.

"I've gotten better at this, don't you think Dixon?" Draco smirked.

"We've gotten better at this, you mean." I said as Draco twirled me around as the song ended.

We both laughed and sat down for a break. I looked up and noticed Pansy happily skipping toward me.

"Blaise just asked me to the Yule Ball!" She exclaimed excitedly.

I smiled brightly at her. "I'm so happy for you, Pansy!"

Pansy smiled back and thanked me. She went back across the hall to Blaise. I looked at Draco and noticed he was fidgeting nervously next to me.

"Sooooo, who are you taking to the Yule Ball?" I asked him, nudging him with my elbow.

"Haven't asked anyone yet." He sighed. "Have you been asked yet?"

"No, I haven't been asked yet. Honestly, since thinking about it this morning I'm really not sure if I want to go anymore." I said sadly.

"Is it because of Cedric?" Draco asked.

I didn't say anything. Instead, I gave him a slightly annoyed look.

"Sorry. Didn't mean to bring him up." He sighed.

"No, it's fine. But yeah, I think it is because of him. He will probably be bringing Cho." I complained.

I watched Draco roll his eyes and groan. "You should still go."

"Why would I want to?" I questioned.

Draco rolled his eyes again.

I screwed up my face at him. "Why do you keep rolling your eyes?"

"I don't know... I was thinking... may- maybe we could... go together." Draco stuttered.
