A few weeks had gone past and Halloween was finally here. A lot of students had entered the tournament at this point so I was no longer nervous about Cedric getting picked. His chances were pretty slim. Cedric and I had stopped fighting as much and Cho Chang was kind of keeping her distance. I would always catch her staring at Cedric or pointing at him and whispering to her friends. It annoyed me, of course, but at least Cedric was staying away from her, that I knew of.

"You coming with us to the Great Hall, Victoria?" Pansy asked from across the common room.

"Yeah, coming." I sighed.

Blaise and Pansy began to walk out of the common room but Draco waited for me to catch up. He gave me a slight smile and put an arm around my shoulders.

"He won't get picked." He said as he guided me out of the common room.

I sighed loudly. "I know, there are way too many people entered in it now, I will be shocked if he does."

Draco squeezed my shoulder with the hand he had wrapped around me. We walked in silence to the Great Hall together.

The Great Hall was full of noisy chatter and excitement. Draco and I sat across from Pansy and Blaise. Very soon after we had been seated Professor Dumbledore silenced everyone.

"I will now be picking the three champions for the Triwizard Tournament!" He exclaimed excitedly.

Everyone clapped and cheered.

Once the cheering came to an end Dumbledore continued to talk. "The champion that will be representing Durmstrang Institute is... Viktor Krum!"

Everyone cheered and clapped again. Viktor Krum made his way to where Dumbledore was standing with his headmaster. Headmaster Karkaroff held Viktor's hand high in the air and the cheering grew louder.

Dumbledore waited until everyone was silent once again before he continued. "Now, the champion that will be representing Beauxbatons is... Fleur Delacour!"

Again, everyone clapped as Fleur stood up and made her way to the front of the Great Hall. She did a little curtsy when she got up there and stood next to Viktor.

Dumbledore then began to announce the last champion. "Now finally, the champion that will be representing Hogwarts is... Cedric Diggory!"

I gasped and quickly put my hand over my mouth in shock. It was like time was moving in slow motion. Everyone was standing up from their seats. They were clapping and cheering, but I couldn't hear a thing. I could see Cedric walking up to the front of the hall happily. I stood up slowly and began to walk to the doors of the Great Hall. My ears were ringing and I felt like I was running out of breath. I made it out of the Great Hall and slipped outside into the courtyard. Finally, it seemed like time was gone back to normal and I could hear again, but I could only hear myself gasping for air. I felt and hand on my back and turned around quickly. It was Draco.

"Dr-Draco... he's... he's going to... get killed." I said breathlessly.

"Victoria, breath. Everything is okay." He said worriedly.

Once I had caught my breath I walked over to a wall and sat on it, Draco followed behind me. I stared blankly into the distance, I could hear faint noises coming from the school.

"He'll be fine." Draco said breaking the silence.

I shook my head and ignored him. I was in disbelief that Cedric was picked. I had convinced myself so much that he wasn't going to get picked that I didn't even really think about how I would react if he did.
