I have been on edge since I saw him on Monday. I want him here with me and I want him now. Only a few more hours until the rescue team leaves to get him. The fact that they set up a room for him in the clinic does not help any and only makes me nervous. Linus mentioned over dinner last night that Ethan wanted to be in charge of his medical recovery. He is the best doctor we have in the pack, so I do not have a problem with it. Plus, I think for him it's kind of personal.

I watched the clock tick by not being able to do anything else. Most everyone has been scrambling about. The whole pack has been busy getting ready for the new arrival. My mate most likely has no idea that he is about to be the most important person in this whole pack. I hope he is ready.

My room has been remodeled to occupy two people instead of just one. Plus, Aspen added a few touches that she thinks would be nice for him. Linus has been driving us to and from school to make sure we are not drawing suspicion by going to the house again. Not like we would have been able to get by his trackers anyway. I may be an alpha but even I am not that good yet. The trackers watching my mate were the ones that had trained me as a teenager. Which means they know all my tricks.

The hardest part of this situation was all of us sitting down and trying to explain to Cassi why he is getting a new brother. Of course, he threw a fit because he wanted to share my room with me. He tried to get away with saying the new brother would want his own space anyway. Aspen of course was an absolute hero and explained that the new brother was more my age, so it only made sense that he shared a room with me. Cassi like all pups understands how mates work. Just the child safe stuff though. The rest will be explained when he turns thirteen.

Pups are taught at a young age that mates are chosen by the moon goddess. There is actually a story that mothers tell their pups about how the moon goddess chooses mate pairings. I am not sure if I believe that is how our history actually started but it is a rather good story.

The fairytale goes; The moon goddess, Selene, made a human that had heightened senses so he could better protect himself and skills like being able to see in the dark. The human did not last long though. All the heightened senses drove him mad. Humans were not meant to live like that. So, Selene looked to all the creatures she had already created. There had to be one that could handle all the things she wanted for this creature.

After days of thought and observation it was decided the wolf was one of her most lethal creatures. She did not just want a vicious killing machine though. If she gave it the emotions and empathy of a human not only would the creature be hard to kill but it would be able to love and care for things as well. So, it would not just run around and destroy the beautiful world she had created.

With all her knowledge she created two half human half wolves. She could not put all the emotions and abilities she wanted into just one creature. It would drive the creature insane. The two wolves destined to find each other would draw strength from the other and create a powerful bond.

After a few generations, a werewolf finally ended up dying without finding their mate. Nobody thought anything of it thinking the wolfs mate would just be able to live without knowing that their mate had died. Humans do it all the time.

After a few days, A werewolf in another village had fallen severely ill. His chest was in extreme pain and even know he was sleeping all the time he looked like he had not slept in days. The werewolf eventually became violent like Selene's first experiment. After a few days of trying to figure out why the wolf was acting like it was the doctor finally put the poor werewolf down. Nobody can honestly say what happened to the werewolf after his mate died. It is said in our folklore that when your mate dies their spirit still finds a way to locate you. When the spirit does find their mate, it gives them all its power killing the humanity inside of us.
