End?

I saw the light float across the room and eventually fly away. I tried to catch it, but it was too fast. I watched it disappear as the room got brighter as if a small firework had exploded in it.

The first thing I noticed when the light faded was how messy the room had gotten. What even happened in here?? A tornado??

The broom was in the corner, but I couldn't get to it for fear of falling through the floor, which hollowed out right where it was sitting. Instead, I made a small burst of fire and burned everything we didn't need, being careful not to touch the things we did. Not that I needed things I and Jay used to do together like our instruments, or things easy to replace like our miniature Connect 4 game sitting on the desk, unfinished for weeks.

Just as I was about to burn the keyboard and electric guitar, I thought for a moment. Jay would want me to keep these as memories of what we had done in our lives. We'd played Warriors a few weeks ago, and we even took lessons together for a few months last year.

It reminded me of how much we'd been through in so little time. We'd fought together, fought each other, I even tried to kill him at one point because I thought he was a kidnapper coming to grab me in the middle of the night. Boy did I scream... I laughed inaudibly and put out my fire. The room was darker, but I managed to plug back in and turn on the lamp. It flickered for a bit before deciding to stay off.

I sighed in exasperation. That lamp was gonna go out eventually, I thought, might as well be now, now that we don't even have to replace it. Now that I don't even need it.

The room was dark, cold, and lifeless. The walls still seemed to echo off our laughs and yelling, even our instruments played quietly in the background. I walked around the room silently, stepping over the mess I had yet to clean. Clothes and fidgets, mostly. I picked up the small piece of clothing I had been holding onto when I died not long ago. It was ghostly green, see-through, tinted blue, and denim, like jeans. I held it in my hand for a minute as a warm ghost-type tear slid down my face.

"He sacrificed himself to save me. Twice," I realized. "And this letter on the table here, he's finished his unfinished business. That means-" I gasped as I thought of the true nature of that letter. "I'll... Never see him again." He had moved onto his next life and was now not going to see me for the rest of my time here.

"I miss you already, Jay... I miss hugging you, I miss talking to you, I miss your sweet laughter and your funny personality. I miss how you ramble all the time and you exaggerate the simplest things. I wish you were here. I wish I could ask you how you're doing as a ghost, or how you're doing in your next life. I wish we were still hugging and crying on each others' shoulders. I miss your smell of strawberries and fir, your little blue outfit, and the blue sheets on your side of the bed. I love you, Jay... I love you so much..." I sat on the bed and sobbed, ignoring my cold body still lying there, clutching the scrap of clothing I had grabbed before he sacrificed himself.

A ringing sound erupted from the wall as if a little bell was being continuously hit. I looked up to follow the sound and noticed a small blue splotch on the corner of the bed that I was looking at. I crawled over to it and held it, looking at it. It was a beautiful shade of familiar blue, reminding me of Jay. Tears welled in my eyes as I stared at the shiny, metallic blue colour. I blinked for a bit as the beautiful, ringing familiarity flashed in unison with my blinks. I wiped away tears and grabbed a small glass jar from the bedside.

"You're not getting away again, Jay," I told the metallic smudges as I poured the light wax into the jar. It flashed for a bit before dulling and sitting calmly in the small, clear container.

"I wish you were still here, for me to hug and talk to. It's awkward to talk to a glass container..." I said.

"KAI!?!" Shouted someone from outside. "KAI, OPEN UP!!" He shouted.
