rando surprise chapter :')

“Oh my,” Trisha gasped at the sight of Bucky. People were often struck by our high difference. “Um…hello.”
I smiled, “Hi Trisha. This is my brother Bucky.” Bucky stuck his head out and gave her a firm handshake that made her whole body wiggle a bit. “Niall told me he called you? We’re here to pick up Archie.”
“Oh. Right, yes. He did call.” She spun around and walked over to get Archie. I spared a quick glance at Bucky. Is it just me, or is Trisha a little weird? I mean, she seemed like something was…off with her—and it’s just with me and Niall. I’ve seen her act normal with Wayne and Rachel, even Joan, but for some reason she treated me and Niall differently.
“I don’t know if I like her,” I muttered to Bucky. “And I don’t know if she likes me either.”
“She’s likes Niall. She has since before you got here.”
“You’re not funny.”
He chuckled, “I’m serious.” I just rolled my eyes at him and turned my attention to Archie, who was now running towards us, all wrapped up in his coat, scarf, and hat.
“Connie! Bucky!”
“What’s going on little man?!” Bucky smiled as he crouched down in front of him. I grabbed Archie’s hand and gave Trisha a little wave before leading him out. Bucky stood up and followed us, talking to Archie about some book about trains he read.
“You’re going to be stuck with just Connie for a while,” Bucky told Archie. “Aren’t you sad?” I rolled my eyes and help Archie into the car. He looked so small in Bucky’s huge pick-up truck. I was almost tempted to sit in the back with him to make sure he didn’t get bumped around.
“No, I’m not sad,” Archie said as I buckled him in.
I gave Bucky a triumphant look before getting into the passenger seat. It actually warmed my heart that Archie liked me so much. When Niall and I started dating, it was always a fear of mine that Archie would ultimately decide whether I would last or not. I knew it would always be Archie over me, and I completely understood that. Thankfully, nothing was ever that dramatic, I don’t think it ever will. I love little Archie and it was more than satisfying to know he at least liked me back.

When Bucky left, I decided it was time to start making dinner. “Archie, what would you like to eat?”
“Corn,” he said, tilting his head and swinging his legs back and forth on the chair. I nodded and turned around, getting a can of corn from the cupboard.
“Okay, what else? Peas?”
“No green things.”
“But you like peas.” I looked over my shoulder to see if my white lie worked—it didn’t. “Okay, we can have corn and…” I trailed off as I rummaged through the cabinet.
“Mac ‘n cheese!”
“Corn and macaroni…?” He smiled and nodded. “Well, alright.” I wondered briefly is this was terrible for his nutrition, but quickly brushed it off. Corn is a vegetable, and mac ‘n cheese is a dairy product and a carb. Those are important parts of the food pyramid. And, I just couldn’t say no to his big pleading smile.
Once 'yellow dinner' was finished, once again, he convinced me into letting him eat in the living room as we watched Wall-E. It happened to be one of my favorite movies, so he didn’t have to do much begging. I was starting to think it was becoming his favorite movie too, judging by the fact that this is the fourth time we’ve watched it together this week.
