It was Friday—luckily I didn't work today.
I made my way to my Dad's office, I usually didn't bring him lunch, but I didn't have anything left to do.
It was on the wealthier side of LA—but it made sense, since most of his clients were high profile people. He was a lawyer, after all.
"Hey Nia! your dad's in his office," the receptionist smiled.
I grinned, walking over to him.
"Hey, I brought you lunch." I sat the subway bag in front of him.
He ended the call, looking up at me.
"Thank you baby. You know what's crazy.." he opened the bag as he spoke, "This guy that works with you at the office might be my new client."
I lifted a brow.
"What's his name?"
"Tyler," he took a bite of his sandwich. "He said he worked with Rogers."
My eyes shifted back to him in surprise.
"...there he is," he pointed behind me at the glass wall on the other side of the office. He was leaving.
"That reminds me, I gotta talk to him about..work stuff," I grabbed my bag. "So i'll see you tonight!"
I faintly heard him say a goodbye before I made my way to where Tyler was going.
Soon, I got in my car, following behind his Rolls.
Was I crazy? No. Just curious. Definitely just curious.
He turned right, I turned right. He made a U-turn, I did too.
I followed closely behind, but looked away whenever he checked his rear view. We made our way into a neighborhood. It wasn't gated, but his house and all the others around his were. I watched as he made a turn into a gorgeous home. The gate closed behind him as his car made its' way in.
I stayed behind, soon speeding off before he could get out.
...
"Just checking up on you. We haven't talked since that night.."
"Brent, you can't keep calling whenever you need something. I'm not doing this shit anymore."
"I don't need anything."
"Mhmm." I rolled my eyes, falling into the bed.
"I can't stop thinking about you..." he breathed. "I miss the way we used to be."
I sighed, unsure of what to say.
"Brent..."
"You don't gotta say nothing. I just wanted to get it off my chest. I'm forreal."
"We promised eachother it'd only be sex—,"
"I know...look, it's a party tomorrow night. Just come. I'll text you the address." he replied.
"I'll think about it."
"Aight. Goodnight."
"Night."
