Episode 9

Jimin’s POV

“Did I hear you clearly?” Kai

I can’t help but roll my eyes at Kai’s question. He obviously heard what I said but he pretended that he didn’t.

“I know you heard me right. I said I’m out. Give the assignment to female agents or other agents. You don’t have to pay me for the time I worked for them.”

I already made my decision. In order to stop all the bullshit that I am feeling, I’ll pass the assignment to one of my co-workers. I know it is unprofessional but I won’t change my mind.

Staying and continuing the job became too unbearable and is really affecting me and I don’t want it to reach to the point where I couldn’t control myself anymore. I thought that no emotion could hinder me in my job, but I was wrong. And since everything is new to me, I really am having a hard time.

“Why so suddenly?” Kai

“I can’t keep up with a teenager’s life.”

I lied trying to hide the real reason.

“You’ve been doing that job for more than three months. The Mins also commended you for your good work.” Kai said who obviously doesn’t believe what I said.

“That’s because I have no choice but to do a good job. My cover’s been blown away, anyway. There’s no need for me to continue looking after Yoonji.”

Kai stayed silent as he looked at me before finally leaning on his swivel chair.

“Jackson will be on an intelligence operation. I’ll give it to you if you want to.” Kai

“Who’s the mark?”

“Shekhar Duvalier, a foreign national. Being a business man is his front but, he’s really an artillery and drug dealer.” Kai

He looked and shuffled some of the folders on his table before grabbing what he was looking for and gave it to me.

“He’s within the hit list of INTERPOL. He’ll be coming to the country. According to our information, he will be meeting a buyer here. We need to know who he’s having business within the country before handing him to the INTERPOL.” Kai

“I’ll take it.”

I grabbed the folder without looking into it then turned my back on him. As I was about to get out, he talked and I looked back at him.

“I’ve been there Jimin. I know how hard it is.” Kai

I looked at him for a while. Of course he knew. He wouldn’t be their boss if he doesn’t know what is going on with his employees. And that’s no wonder he didn’t stop me.

“That’s why I’m stepping back, before I could no longer stop it.”

I said and went out of his office.

I realized I had been thinking the wrong way. I thought that something was taken away from me when Megan came back. But to be honest, I was never a part of their life. Megan was already in the picture before I came in. I had nothing to begin with, that was a fact. So before I even thought of replacing Megan’s position in Yoongi’s life, I need to stop whatever bullshit I am thinking of. Before my feelings would grow deeper and bigger for Yoongi and before I could do something to Megan I should stay away from Yoongi.

“Target sighted.”

I lowly whispered on my communication device when I saw the foreign national enter the party venue.
