"Nora, No!"

"It's a dare like any other. Just do it and get it over with." She drew closer. "No need making a big deal out of it. Unless you're thinking of something mo..." She narrowed her eyes.

Ace's brow jerked. With the speed of light, Nora's lips were enclosed in a sea of warmth. Her eyes widened in shock, slacked, and then shut.

It was new, sweet, and magical. His lips felt soft, whiskey intoxicated, and desirable. It was supposed to be a kiss-and-go but turned out to be more when he began thrusting his tongue into her mouth.
At first, she knew not how to respond to his penetrating tongue. It was all so new nonetheless, not a hard shell to crack.

Her body began tingling in an unusually demanding way. She yearned for his touch. As if reading her mind, he engulfed her waist to pull her closer, deepening their flaming kiss more than ever in the process. She heard him groan when she snaked her hands on his chiseled chest.

"Fuck it!" He muttered in between their lips as his hands slid down her fluffy ass. Her lips immediately departed from his, her head fell backward when he squeezed and smacked it.

She loved it. She wanted more of it. More of him.

Ace lifted her to his waist. Out of reflex, she preserved it with both legs wrapped around him. The lock and key hypothesis applied to their lips yet again.
Not knowing how and when they found themselves at the edge of the bed, Nora felt her body lower making her cling to him even tighter. The bulge she fought to ignore incessantly poked her dampened folds.

Once her back kissed the bed, she sensed reluctance. Not hers.
She fought to maintain the pace at which they had begun to no avail. His kisses froze on her neck before he rolled on her side with a curse. She almost shrieked.
Nora embryoed to the other side wounded and dissatisfied.

"Why?" She whispered.

Ace who had found pleasure in the ceiling designs did nothing but sigh and cocoon himself to the other side.

"You don't like me that much?" She added. Her voice was unstable as if she was sobbing. Was she?
No matter what, Ace shut the question with a pretentious snore.

The foggy morning countered him at the sight of Nora's bloodshot hooded eyes. It was like a speck of dirt in the eye; uncomfortable until it's out of affected sight.

He should never have engaged the game.

Face to face with the irritating lady of two days ago, Ace's frown had deepened when she thinned her lips and shook her head without even sparing them a glance.

"We're sorry--"

"I thought as goddam much!"

"Let her at least complete her sentence," Nora's cold tone butted in before she nodded to the receptionist to go ahead.

She cleared her throat, "Doctor Ngome still hasn't returned."

Ace angrily flung a pencase off the counter. "Y'all are messed up. This country is fucking messed up you get that? Go tell that to your damn admin and don't forget your shitty ass president!"

"What about the other doctor?" Nora demanded, trying as much as possible to ignore Ace's immature fuss.

With fright in her countenance, the receptionist managed to say, "he either."

"See?"

"Thank you. I'm sorry about the mess," Nora said as she grabbed Ace's arm and pulled him towards the exit. "What is your problem?"

He scoffed, "are you seriously asking me that?"
She rolled her eyes to prove her obviousness.

Ace clipped his nose bridge while pacing uncontrollably repeating to himself, "you can't really be asking me this. No, you can't."

"This shouldn't be a surprise. Brain tumor is a rare case in this country reason why the specialists search for greener pastures overseas," she dashed into the car. "I want to return home."

Ace who didn't find pleasure pacing hopped into the car with his phone beaming in queue. Nothing more than a barely noticeable smile cracked his lips at the notification.

"We are leaving for overseas then." He nonchalantly stated.

Nora's eyes bulged out of it's sockets like he had just developed horns. "What? No! noway! Take me back home and let me keep on with my daily duties." She frowned.

"Do you even hear yourself talk sometimes? You sound stupid right now in case you don't know,"

"I'm not complaining."

"Well, I am."

"As who?" She fired back.

Ace narrowed his eyes and nodded as if he was understanding something about her that she couldn't. Without saying more, he twisted the gear lever and off they rode.

Was he to blamed for anything?

No.

He knew so well that part of her upheaval was because of the previous night. He couldn't regret it though, in as much as he wished to. For the first time he made a good decision.

*

Four days felt like four years since he'd not seen Nora. She had literally escaped him in his absence and refrained from littering around the public tap. During the short while they'd been together, she must have observed his every move to show up in his absence. Wise.

He could very much go back to his old spirit, that is, only if he didn't keep feeling something was lacking.

The girl was super headstrong. Even to her own health.

Ace exited the veranda and headed inside. He needed some distraction. Even though it was class hours with his fellas pretending to be attentive, he still decided to text Mike and in less than two minutes, he received an affirmative response.

The crew had just walked out.

It was merely 4pm but he was ready to get wasted till dawn. He had to be careful with his expenditures though. For sooner or sooner, she would change her mind on her own or if she didn't, he would make her.

'Things are to be liked and humans to be loved but the reason why the world is in chaos is because things are being loved and humans liked. I don't know if this will ever make sense to you, Ace but I pray it does.'

He heard his mother's voice say to him.
