"Lily! Wait up!"
Lily didn't turn around. She didn't want James to see her face. Also if he tried to talk to her she thought she might cry.
But it wasn't James.
It was Severus.

After what seemed like eternity Sirius pulled away, resting his forehead on Remus'.
They both breathed heavily, breaths mingled.
They sat in silence.
Then Remus giggled.
Giggled.
Actual giggling, like a young girl.
Sirius looked at him, not getting the joke.
Remus kept giggling.
"Aw pads- I mean Sirius, don't look at me like that"
He carried on giggling.
Sirius tried not to smile. It was kind of contagious.
Remus started to full on laugh.
"I-I'm s-s-sorry it's just *laugh* you and*laugh* me just *laugh* kissed!"
Sirius wanted to laugh, but still didn't see the joke.
"I don't get what's funny."
Remus grabbed his hand, trying to gain composure.
He didn't manage it.
"Sirius it's just, that means I'm, you know, gay."
This word caused uncontrollable giggles.
Sirius wasn't even close to laughing now though. He was just scared for what Regulus would think.
—————————————
Lily stopped walking but didn't turn to face him.
Severus caught up, panting slightly from the run up the stairs.
"Lily I- how was your evening."
"Fine." Lily's voice was sharp, cold, not lily like.
"Is, is everything ok?"
Severus tried to put an arm on her shoulder, she brushed it off.
"Fine, I'm just tired. Goodnight."
She walked quickly away.
Almost too late Severus remembered his reason for talking to her.
"Wait lily!"
He had to run again to catch up.
"Lily, please, whatever you do, don't walk to the train alone tomorrow."
This time Lily turned to look at him.
"Why?"
She looked like she had been crying.
Severus realised this probably wasn't his place to ask.
"Just, I can't say, just don't , promise me?"
Lily pondered for a minute.
"Fine."
Then as quickly as she had come, she was gone.

James ran up the secret passage way, maybe he could get to Lily before she got into her dorm.
He took the steps three at a time, leaping up the steep staircase.
He emerged right by the fat lady. He shot out the password and practically flew threw the hole.
But Lily wasn't there.
Only Peter, curled up, looking pale in the firelight.
James caught his breath and sat down with his friend.
Peter looked up, his eye really looked terrible. It made his hazel Iris' look almost red.
"Hey Pete, you just been here this evening."
Peter nodded.
"How was the dance?" His voice was raspy, like he had been crying.
"It was good yeah, actually I was hoping you'd seen..."
James turned his head to the unmistakable sound of the fat lady talking.
Seconds later a face emerged.
James sat up in hope.
Then appeared the tear streaked face of the one and only Remus Lupin.
