The walk back to the village didn't leave me stiff like the first time, but full of joy. Once arriving, I noticed how happy and peaceful everyone was, running, playing, faces filled with a feeling I never knew, I wanted to stay in this false reality as long as I could. Alethia had brought me to what looked to be an empty house, and with a hidden smile, said "this is one of our empty forts, you may stay here for the time being, Feel free to use what you find inside. We will begin lessons tomorrow, I look forward to showing you our ways." I could tell she loved being a Birdin, the way she passionately talked about all of them, it reminded me of my mother, and felt quite comforting. The fort (like everything else) was lovely made. There were 2 big windows, one at the back, and one on the far left side by the dinning table. By the door was a finely polished table with a basket of sliced fruit, it almost seemed like she had everything fixed for me while we were gone, how considerate. Though my favorite parts of it were the bed and kitchen. In the kitchen there were glass glazed mugs, with the most beautiful gold painted birds on them, and the wooden furniture was polished so well, that it resembled glass. The bed however, looked like the most comfortable thing anyone could ever sleep in, and the pillows looked like they were made of the softest cotton there could ever be. I knew right then and there, that I would love staying here.
As expected, I slept heavenly. Who knew that sleeping on tiny cotton balls was so comfortable. As soon as the sun came out, Alethia was by my door, knocking rapidly. I was only half awake, but the irritating pounding had fully woken me up. "Birdins awake as soon as the sun shines." said alethia with a slight smirk, knowing that I slept wonderfully well on that bed. After fully waking myself, she took me to this open field(well, I say field but it's actually a small patch of cut-down grass) and there were practice targets made of wood at the end. It looked like they were pretty worn out, so they must train a lot to protect the birds, or something of the sort, I honestly forgot to ask. Aletheia told me to stand on a red X that was aligned to the targets, and handed me a bow. "Don't you need some sort of protection to do these sorts of things?" I asked knowing that this probably wasn't safe. Her face went back to being puzzled "why would you? It will just weigh you down when you fight one on one" she looked at me with an expression that said "you should know this" then I remembered she knows nothing about us 'humans'. I figured I would just see how they do things and go from there.
