"UGH! Are you kidding me?!" Fang shouted flinging a dagger at a painted on target.
"well... You can't expect to be friends with everyone. And- your not exactly.... welcoming..." ember pointed out. Fang flung another dagger it plunged right into the wall on the bullseye.
"What do you mean by that?" Fang asked anger in his voice. Ember looked him up and down. He wore a ragged cloak with a spiked armor piece just above his right shoulder. He has large red bat wings tattered from countless battles. He was strong and carried a bow on his back. he has curled horns reaching back behind his ears which, one has a large ear piece. He wore a gold crown with ruby's on it. A signature piece as ruler of the demons.
"Well... You come off as intimidating." Fang looked over at him he knew he would never hurt his second in command but he could tell he really wanted to.
"Well, that's a good thing, right?" Fang asked a hint of pride in his deep voice.
"For the leader of demons? Yes." ember mumbled half to himself. Fang walked up to the wall plucking out the daggers, most of them in the bullseye. The board was ragged and had lots of holes in it. Very worn from countless practice.
"listen to me ember." Fang said softly as he walked over to him.
"I need you to send out a small search party. We need a new place for the deer project." Fang ordered. Ember nodded taking a note in his journal.
"What's in that journal anyways?" Fang asked after a long pause. ember hesitated then gave him the journal.
"Just some notes and a few ideas..." Ember muttered Fang flipped through the journal as ember shifted uneasily on the rock he was sitting on.
"You know? some of these aren't half bad." Fang said still reading some of the entry's. Coming from Fang that was high praise. Ember felt pride rise inside him he didn't think those ideas were very good.
"Polish them and share them when there ready. Ill put a few into consideration." Fang said handing back the journal. Ember nodded slowly as Fang left. ember looked at the journal carefully he looked around the dark misty forest the purple lights of the fireflies mimicking stars. he jumped off the rock heading to a small tree sapling. he muttered a few words and waved his hand a small ball of water floating above it. He lowered it onto the roots of the tree.
"Drink little tree. And you can join your parents in giving us shade." ember muttered to it.
"ember?" Fang spoke behind him. He jumped falling over he spun around heart pounding.
"What are you doing to that sapling?" Fang asked suspiciously.
"erm- watering it sir?" ember said out of breath. Fang walked over to the tree brushing the young trees fragile leaves.
"Why?" Fang asked. he poked at the tree.
"It doesn't move its not alive." Fang said.
"Actually it is. Its a plant." Ember explained in the nicest tone possible.
"Like the grass?" Fang questioned. ember nodded his head starting to get up brushing his light orange fur of dirt. Fang was still looking at the tree examining its features.
"It doesn't look like grass." Fang stated. Ember looked at it then at Fang.
"No- because its a tree.." ember said slowly. Fang gave a grunt of understanding.
"Its like a bigger piece of broccoli." Fang said. ember laughed slightly
"Well, I guess so." He spoke lightly. Fang gave a slight laugh stepping away from the sapling.
"We want to keep these alive right?" Fang asked. ember nodded.
"They keep us alive. They give us many things, air to breath, wood for building, shade..." Ember trailed off noticing Fang staring at him.
"Um- sir?" ember looked at him. They stared at each other for a few minutes. Ember always loved his amber eyes. They reminded him of sunsets. He loved sunsets.
"Sire!" Someone called in the distance. Ember broke his gaze from Fang seeing a small guard rushing to Fang. Fang shook his head a confused look on his face. He looked over at the guard.
"Yes?" He said. The guard bowed and started rambling but ember didn't pay attention.
"What? Really? Well we better get going then!" Fang said briskly. He grabbed ahold of ember shocking him. His heart started pounding
"We don't have time to waste ember!" Fang said hurriedly. ember was still confused and panicked as Fang had to practically drag him.
"What..?" Ember said half dazed. Fang growled in annoyance.
"Didn't you hear her? Its the yearly leader meeting!" Fang explained. Ember was still dazed and weirded out. Why was Fang looking at me? Why did we just- stare at each other? Why am I so nervous because of this? Ember thought mind whirling with questions.
"Ugh ember we don't have time for this!" Fang exclaimed. He stopped walking ember crashed into his back, falling over. Fang caught him before he hit the ground picking him up and holding him in his arms. ember felt shock and embarrassment wash over him. He could walk just fine why was he being carried by the leader of the kingdom?!
"Sir put me down" ember begged trying to get out of fangs arms.
"No time for this ember. You clearly lost the ability to walk so I'm just going to have to hold you." Fang said as embers panic built slowly.
"Now hold on tight." Fang said. Ember realized he was about to take off into the air to get there in time. He clutched onto Fang as he spread his wings and pushed off the ground flying above the dense ebony forest. ember looked down forgetting his fear of heights. He felt fear spike into him and he started to panic more.
"Oh no- oh no-" that's all ember could say. They landed on a rock platform in front of a giant quartz crystal. Fang let go of ember he fell onto the hard rocky floor. He played there eyes wide with panic and stress.
"Get up." Fang ordered harshly stepping over ember. He just couldn't move. Everything was a mess and he had to be babied by the leader of all people?! he shakily got up almost falling over again. He walked unsteadily to the small rock chairs that were gathered in front of the crystal with only one other leader and second in command there, hope and there beta, faith.
