have you ever seen a man?

true sadness doesn't have to come from a look on a face, it doesn't have to show in someone's eyes- not everyone carries their heart on their sleeve. have you ever seen a man? yes just a man. he is smiling and he's kind, he has kids and a mind full of good and fun times, however that man is depressed and there's pain in his chest and theres a hole in his heart and no one knew from the start until he shattered. he broke. there's lists upon lists of his swings and his misses and the cuts on his wrists will never fade or cease to exist. they will persist with a vengeance and a reason to stay, just to remind this man that he was never 'ok'.

but nobody knew. nobody realized. nobody saw the pain in his eyes. yes, it was there, but he covered his despair with a smile and a chuckle and a laugh with his belt buckle in hand. he hid his hurt from the world as if he were ashamed to feel depressed, to feel sad, to feel hurt or feel mad. he hid his feelings like he hid his arms, his legs from the world. he is ashamed he let it get this far, but at the same time he's proud. he's proud he's held on for so long and stayed so strong through the pain and the hurt and the wrong. he stayed so strong.
